Setting Minimacs to sound activated mode from Fat Frog?
K-Nine replied to samcoombes's topic in Frog Range MK1
As suggested above ... if you want all the minimac fixtures to do the same thing in time with the music, and be controlled by the frog desk, then the best way is to program a chase memory and set the drive modifier to Bass. Ensure that the sound input is plugges into the back of the desk. Alternatively, you could set the Drive modifier to beat and then get the operator to set the beat speed by tapping the step button when required. For more info on this function .... CLICK HERE -

You can program chases to have a bass drive - which means that each successive step is triggered by the bass beat of the sound input to the desk or is that something different :?: -
Setting Minimacs to sound activated mode from Fat Frog?
K-Nine replied to samcoombes's topic in Frog Range MK1
What does setting the Minimacs to sound activated mode actually require ? If this is simply a matter of setting one of the fixture parameters to a particular value then you could always program that data into a submaster -
While the desk is powering up and actually loading the show from flash the channel levels may appear as red dashes in the Channel Data Display. However, as soon as the show has completed loading the levels should change to their current output levels and beb displayed in black. If you are still seeing red dashes, this would indicate that topset had been set on some of the channels. I would recommend that you upgrade the desk with the latest software which is available from this site.

One thing that sometimes people overlook, and I know because I have done this myself in testing ... Remember to bring down the virtual faders for all the fixture brightnesses before running the show. I think this is what GLX was getting at in an earlier post Check the Playback and Status Information section at the bottom of the monitor screen. The line of data that starts with "FIX BR" shows the virtual fader levels for the fixture brightness parameters. These should all be zero (displayed as --) when running a show.

Maybe that's because F.R.O.G stands for Fixture Random Output Generator

There are a number of suggestions and ideas relating to the use of an external keyboard with the Frog desks. These have been noted and logged in the Frog database. They will be reviewed, together with all the other suggestions when we lok at the content of the next software update. It is too early to say at this stage, what features may be implemented - a lot will depend on the time and resources we are allowed

The brightness channels are output on analogue and DMX; the colour section is output on DMX only. The only way to link a laptop to an XLS would be if your laptop had a MIDI port, and you were running some kind of MIDI software on the laptop. Have a read of the XLS manual for further information on it's MIDI capabilities, CLICK HERE.

What response :?: All I did was move your post into the Suggest a Feature Forum Frog Reference No 5493 - Use the function keys F5 - F8 on external keyboard as short cuts to fade times on memories screen - to be reviewed.

replacing our ETC board with Bullfrog - questions...
K-Nine replied to gress's topic in Frog Range MK1
I think that the easiest way to do this is to program them as n-shot chases. This functionality was added in version 9 software See Version 9 release notes or the latest operating manual for further details. -
No - it is not possible to alter the default patch. If you set up the fixture assignment and DMX patch you can save this show to floppy disk and use it as a template in the future as a starting point prior to programming any memories/submasters/palettes etc

replacing our ETC board with Bullfrog - questions...
K-Nine replied to gress's topic in Frog Range MK1
I just remembered something (and spotted a minor error in the manual  ). In Version 9 of the software we increased the number of submaster pages to 20 on all desks in the frog range, therefore: Frog/Fat Frog/Leap Frog has 20 pages of 12 submasters (total 240 submasters) Bull Frog has 20 pages of 24 submasters (total 480 submasters) -
You are correct - unassigning the MACS should only remove the MAC data from the memories, submasters and palettes. The data for other fixture types in the show should not be affected.

Gress, It looks like most of your questions have been answered in the various replies above If you have any further questions on the Bull Frog then please post in these forums, where we will do our best to help. -
I think that your last sentence sums up the current situation quite accurately  I can understand the functionality you are asking for, but to be perfectly honest, the front panel and user interface design of the frog is not geared up for that way of operation. However, if you look at the Illusion 500, the opposite is true The programming/editing of channel data is done via a numeric keypad, and with the various tracking functions available it is very simple to change channel levels across multiple cues/memories in the memory stack.

You know you are a Frog addict when ... You can move around the Memories screen on the monitor using the cursor keys 8O

All the Desk Setup data is saved in the show file when a show is saved onto floppy disk This data includes the following: Desk Defaults Fixture Assignments and DMX Patch Program Mode Remote Switches Frog Screen Timecode Setup
-
If the desk contains the STMain 2 processing board (which all Bull Frogs have), then theoretically this would be possible with a change to the software. Frog Reference No 5492 - Desk Light dimmable under software control - to be reviewed.

Two tourists are driving through Wales. As they are approaching Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, they start arguing about the pronunciation of the town's name. They argue back and forth until they eventually stop for lunch. As they stand at the counter, one tourist asks the employee, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us ? Would you please pronounce where we are... very slowly?" The girl leans over the counter and says, "Burrrrrrrr, gerrrrrrr, king"
-
I don't have a problem with that ... call it a draw eh
-
To say that it's not possible is incorrect 8O It is possible to achieve the effect you require However, the main issue is that with the current user interface design and software implementation it is not a simple one button operation that some would prefer
-
Well put Richard, that's the point I was trying to convey in my earlier posts The Frog 2 desk will have DMX Input capabilities, but we have not yet specified exactly what functionality this will provide. Your suggestion will be noted

That was just my personal opinion based on the type of rig that was being quoted. Obviously, if the number of dimmer channels and moving lights may increase with different shows, then you may have to rethink about the desk required to handle all situations That is obviously a question for Graham (NZ)
