Hi Carwyn, There are a couple of things that we can look for. It would be easier if I e-mail you off line. If you could send me an e-mail to the address below giving me your desk serial number I will talk you through what we need to be looking at.
-
First we need to check if the desk is outputting on DMX only or if you are using analogue outputs. If you are unsure then the easy way to tell is the DMX output will have a single 5 pin XLR connected. If analogue it will use upto four 8 pin DIN connections. Please contact me on the address below to take this further.

There is no pre-heat option on the Alphapack. If you are getting an output with the faders at Zero it sounds like the ramp may be slightly too high. Please contact me on the e-mail address below to take this further.

Hi Chris, think we have already spoken about this. If you still have an issue please contact me on the e-mail address below.
-
That sounds like the internal battery has failed and you are over voltaging the RAM. Please contact me on the e-mail address below for further details.
-
I think we tracked this to a problem with DIP switches on the preset PCB not being set correctly. If you still have a problem please e-mail me on the address below.
-
I think we have dealt with this already and had your main PCB back for investigation. If not please contact me on the address below.
-
Think we talked about this off the forum as well. If not please contact me on the address below.

Hi John, Think we have been dealing with this off forum. Think we narrowed it down to the internal battery causing a problem. If not please e-mail on the address below.
-
This sounds like the faders are going to require replacing. Please e-mail me on the address below to obtain further details.
-
Please contact me for information on this.

hi Dave, think that I spoke to you about this already but if not please contact me on keith.rogers@cooperindustries.com or give me a call on my direct dial 01633 833 101.

Hi James, It limits the channels to the percentage output i.e the intensity if a lamp would not go above 90% it does not limit the current on the channel. For a 13amp suppply the load per channel should not be more than 500w per channel. then you need to be aware of the max load for the ring i.e. how it is wired to prevent overloading.

Hi Dan Please give me a call or e-mail me on the address below to continue the conversation. It will be easier to deal with this problem quickly.
-
I think we have been dealing with this via e-mail already, it sounds like a hardware failure not firmware I will continue when I am back in the office.
-
I assume that you mean that even when the channels are set to 0 the outputs are still on? Or are you saying that when the control desk is switched off the outputs are going to full? Please e-mail me on the address below to continue tracking possible causes of the problem.

Most likely failure of the DMX driver IC inside the unit. Should be a reasonably easy fix as the driver is socketed. You should be able to obtain the driver from your local dealer. Please e-mail me on the address below if you would like any further details. -
The buttons on the XL are constructed of 6 separate parts. 5 of the parts are used to make up the mechanical section of the switch, the 6th part is actually a carbon pad on the PCB. Have a look at the attached picture. The normal cause of buttons not working correctly is wear/accumulated dirt on the carbon pad or the rubber contact. If you are careful you can wipe the pads clean with a cotton bud, soaked with a small amount of switch cleaner.

The in rush current on a cold lamp may be somewhere in the region of 13 times the actual rating of the lamp. I would recommend that you set a preheat level on the dimmer as this will warm the lamps filament, this should be help prevent unwanted tripping. It is also worth checking that the connections for the load terminal in the dimmer, socket on the bar and plug on the lamp are also nice and tight and no signs of tarnishing etc. If these are not you may be generating a resistance which can generate an arc that which will again cause a current surge. The other thing to also take into account is your mains supply. I assume that your calculations are based on a 240v supply, if the supply is lower the current would increase. This is probably more for the two cantatas as even a drop to 230v would give you a current draw of about 10.4amp.

Hi Matt, Sounds like you have a problem with the fader decoding circuit. This could be a fault on the main PCB or one of the fader PCB's. It is difficult to say without seeing the desk. The best thing that you can do is have the desk looked at. Please e-mail on the address below with the desk serial number and where you are, so I can point you in the direction of the closest service agent.
-
I know you checked the battery but based on that serial number the that age of desk the battery should be a rechargable one. What you need to do is check the battery voltage with out power this needs to be above 2.2v With power it should be below 4.2v. If it is trying to draw too much current to charge this could be why the desk is not booting. Also on that type of battery they can corrode in such away that they leak onto the PCB and cause damage to the tracks. Did you manage to measure the supply rail into the desk from the PSU? Again you may find it easier to e-mail me on the address below.
-
My initial reaction to what you have described is that there may be a problem with the supply rails being too low so it is not powering up correctly. There are a number of reasons for this. Please could you e-mail me the desk serial number so we can date the hardware and firmware, then I may be able to help you track the problem.

Is anything appearing on the monitor output when the desk boots or is this remaining blank as if it has no signal. If not then it sounds as if the PC main board is not correctly booting. This may be down to the video card not seated correctly or has failed. If the monitor does show something like C:/desk demo then the problem is with the front panel hardware not being detected. This could again be seating this time of the ISA bus interface card, it could also be something like a flat battery on either the FLASH/RAM card or PC motherboard It will be easier to make any replies to the e-mail address shown below.

I will PM you about this to make things easier.
