  1. Dear Members of the Forum,

It is with great sadness that I need to announce, my friend, Ian Knight, who most will know as Iank99, passed away yesterday.

I don't have many detail at this moment in time other than he went peacefully in his sleep.

As I get more information will let you know.

I am sure you will all join me in offering your condolence to his family at this time.

  2. Dear Forum Members,

Some of you may have heard already, but to make it official, after 29 years I am leaving Zero 88 or Vari-Lite as we are now.

My last day is Thursday 28th March.

Since I started with Zero 88 way back in August 1995, as production test technician, testing both the PCB and complete units for the classics like the Sirius 24/48, Betapack Mk1, Rackmasters to name few, have seen many changes through mergers and acquisitions. I am proud to have been part of them and am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the company.

To those of you i have met personally, sorry about that …..not 😉

Those i have spoken or exchanged post/mail with,  lucky you, got away lightly then 😉

In all seriousness, thanks to you all for the support and kind words over the years. I wish you all the best for the future, and will leave you in In Edward and Jon’s capable care.

  3. You cannot patch mutiple faders with the same address, the DMX address can only be assign to 1 fader or 1 fixture at a time.

The way you would achive what you are looking for is to patch as normal, then program jindividual RGBA values to different playbacks and change the playback control option to allow colour mixing of the faders.

The link below shows how to do this, if you want any further help then please feel free to email on the address in my signature.

  4. Once the top layer is damged you can normally use some thing like masking or gaffa tape to remove the rest.

Basically i would wrap this around my fingers and role this across the display appling a slight pressure. it then picks up fragments as it goes. May take a few attempts to get it all off.

Not sure on replacement panels as we discontined the leap frog a number of years ago and i know there are none avaialble. We may have some of the solution metal work available but would need to confirm the manufacturing plant on that.

  5. It may be possible for to attempt to repair this, as we had good success with demo/repair units that came back with damage displays.

We used a clear lacquer from RS part number 569 307, however this has been discontinued and they have recommended 136-8535 as a replacement (link at bottom of page), Obvously i have not tried this one myself.

As Ian mention you do need to remove all of the top layer of the damage display first. Once this has been done use electrical tape to mask the area off, have found any other tape can interact with the lacquer and leave stick mess on the desk front panel.

Make sure the desk is then on a level surface then apply a single coat of the spray. Wait a few minuets then remove the electrical tape. Allow the lacquer to dry in a warm dust free environment for a few hours.

  6. Hi Petra,

When it reboots does it generate an error messages and ask you to save a debug file or does it come back in as if nothing has happened.

When i have been looking for odd issue like this, i have set up an automated cue stack that the first cue needs a button push to trigger the next but it then runs through a set of cues and loops back at the end to one of the earlier cues and contiunes to cycle round the loop. If you then diasable to recovery mode if the power goes off it will wait at cue 1 until go is pushed again.

Have a look at the attached file.

    Loop Test.zos

  7. Hi Ross,

I think Mr Knight has pretty much covered all the main things, the reset being the biggest one when you change the battery.

The only other one to look for is the the contact under the battery is a small leaf spring, this could be too low or tarnished so worth giving it a clean and gently lift it up so it makes a good contact with the bottom of the battery.

  8. If the preheat are set correcty then the next thing to look at would be the supply rail or the vref tail not being correct.

If the v-ref rail is out this will cause issue with the ramp as well. given the age of the unti you may find the capacitors on the supply rail have dried out.

these are the 470uF electalitic next to the transformer.

  9. Hi Stefan,

that looks like possible preheat issue.

if the pot is adjusted too far either way it casue the ramp for the channel control to distort.

it can either leave channels on at a level, or as you have the output don't come on until you get higher up the curve.

to set the preheat we would normally put a 10% control signal in to all the channels then adjust the pot until the lamps are starting to glow then take the signal to 0 and the outputs should then be no longer visable.

  10. hi Cam,

As Kgallen has mention the fixtures patching along with the programmed information are save as part of the show file.

You will find the Save option in setup > save, or by tapping the Z/shift button and selecting the Save Show tab.

To confirm it is saved if you then go to the load option in setup you will see it in the list.

if you want to send the show file to me i can look at convert it to the latest format for you.

  11. Hi @Renato

The support box only asked where a spare PCB could be obtained.

From the check sum error may be due to a flat internal battery, this may have corrupted setting.

Battery on this version is a CR2032 coin cell, would start by checking that.

if you still have issue then please PM on the address in my signature.

    Salut,

    Translated with Google.

    Hi,

It looks like you are using an FLX S48 and this information would be displayed on an external monitor.

If you don't have one connected, go to configuration and settings and select the disable option. this will then display all the icons on the internal screen.
