  1. LTP chases are stopped in the following conditions: 1. On the Playback X when the chase is not from the previous / current / next memory. 2. On Submasters when the fader is down. As I recall, this was done on purpose in response to early customer feedback, to make the operation of the desk simpler. "All my subs are down, there isn't a chase on the Playback X, yet the motors in my lights are making a noise in my quiet scene!!" type of thing. Maybe these are restrictions that we need to look at changing, to allow more advanced users to use the desk in more powerful ways. However this needs to be done in a way that still allows users who are finding their feet with moving lights, partial programming, LTPs etc to get on with the desk and not get terribly confused about what's going on!
  2. Just done some quick tests, it seems filenames longer than 14 characters are not recognised by the desk. If we did allow show naming on the desk, we could increase the number of characters from 14 to 18. The limiting factor is the display of the filenames on the LCD, which is only 20 characters wide. Knock off 1 character each side for the <field highlights>, and you get 18.
  3. When you say "copied" or "cary" - do you mean "transfer"? Since this is the only way to get a chase on a submaster. Things to check: Make sure the LTP trigger level for the submaster is set to something useful like 5%. If your chase drive is manual or beat (release 9.0 feature), the STEP button in the submasters section is now the one to use, not the STEP button in the Playback X section. Make sure in Desk Setup-->Desk Defaults-->Submaster (accessed through Super User), the Sub Data field is set to Gen&Fix, not Generic. If your still having trouble, email your show to us (techsupp@zero88.com) and we'll take a look at it.
  4. Transfer buttons are now the right way round on Phantom Frog version 9.2, CLICK HERE. You can also now specify the floppy path, and the faders will remember where you left them.

    Load Show

Have a look at Phantom Frog 9.2 (CLICK HERE). You should also find the transfer buttons now the right way round, and the faders will remember where you left them. edit: fixed link
  6. What software version are you using? If it isn't the latest (currently 9.0), then download it from HERE and see if it cures your problem. Also check that you have the desk in Partial Programming Mode (in the Super User menus). If you're still having problems then email us your show (techsupp@zero88.com) and we'll have a look at it for you. edit: fixed link
  7. K-Nine, is this another one of your poems? http://www.moellenhoff.de/nonelist/poetry/...t/flat_frog.htm

Ahh, I see what you're getting at now! No, this isn't something that would be possible with the current software. You would indeed have to edit all your memories, as well as swapping the DMX addresses over.

    Wish List

Most of these suggestions are already logged: 1. Frog Reference 5372 Outputs and Preview screens on LCD - the channel flash and fixture selection buttons should move the cursor to the corresponding channel/fixture on the LCD screen. 2. Frog Reference 5347 Wait/Fade/Dwell times specified for individual steps in chase memories. 3. Frog Reference 5419 Modify the action of the cursor keys, and others where necessary on the external keyboard to relate to the monitor screen rather than simply mimic the front panel cursor keys. Direct numeric entry via the PC keyboard was added in release 6. Frog Reference 5369 Remote switches via external keyboard. 4. The LCD cursors flash on a 0.8s (approx) period. On some early Frogs and Fat Frogs this timing is fixed in an EPROM in the desk, so it's not possible to change by a software upgrade. On later desks it could be changed by a software upgrade, but we'd prefer to keep our entire Frog Family the same. Besides, the timing can vary slightly depending on how busy the desk is, so it's not something we'd recommend you rely upon!

    Utilities

You can change the DMX patch at any time without affecting any stored memories / submasters / palettes etc. You cannot however (on Fat Frog, Leapfrog, Bullfrog, Mambo Frog) change the fixture assignment, as this will affect all stored data for that fixture.
  11. The trouble with techies is, they're very likely to dig out the manual and work out how to enable the game again! Even if we were to put a lock code or something on it, there always has to be a way round it if the code is forgotten. Particularly important for hire companies who would otherwise get stuck with locked desks returning from hires. The game should be reasonably well hidden since it is not mentioned in the manual. Maybe we should trawl the forum and remove all posts that mention how to get to it?

You could always exchange the two channels using the DMX patch functions. Spreadsheet-style editing and Topset are discussed in THIS TOPIC. edit: fixed link
  13. Live adjustment of chase modifiers (including speed), together with a 'beat' function, was added in software release 9.0. CLICK HERE.
  14. Interesting suggestion! Not quite sure how well such a thing would work in practice, it may take a lot of tweaking the sound-to-light algorithm sensitivity and timings to get just the response you want. What happens when the guitarists re-tune in the gaps between the songs, do all the lights go out... You could connect up to the remote buttons, and from the other hall, press a button when your hear the music stop to trigger a memory that turns the lights on. Then press a second button when the music starts again to trigger a different memory (i.e. return to the show). Maybe even simpler - get a longer DMX cable and take the desk with you into the other hall!

    Printing...

You could always use the Windows screen-dump feature (shift->print screen) to dump the phantom frog's monitor view to the clipboard. Then paste this into any graphics application (e.g. paint) and print it from that.
  16. Installation: don't use microphone cable for DMX, make sure you terminate the end of the line, and you'll be fine. If it doesn't work, and even if you're really sure you've done it right, swap over pins 2&3 on the DMX connector, just to see if wiring it *wrong* makes it all start working. Operation: read the manuals! Crammed full of nuggets of useful information. Also have a good read of these forums!
  17. The outputs are indeed independantly driven. Try swapping the 2 driver chips around, to see if the fault follows the chip or stays with the output. If the fault is the chip, give our friendly service bloke Keith a call for a spare. If the fault is still with the output, try taking the DMX output PCB out and checking for dry joints on the back.
  18. The basic steps are: 1. You need power to your desk and to your moving lights. Don't connect either to a dimmer output! 2. You need to connect a DMX cable from the desk to your moving lights. It doesn't matter what order you connect the lights in, whatever is most convenient for your cable runs. Use proper DMX cable (not microphone cable). Make sure there is a termination on the end of the DMX line (120R resistor between pins 2 & 3 on the XLR). 3. You need to set the addresses on your moving lights to be unique and non-overlapping with each other or with dimmer addresses. e.g. if you have 2x 16 channel fixtures, set them to addresses 100 and 116. 4. You need to assign fixtures on the desk. The current fixture library contains over 700 fixture types. The fixture assigned on the desk must match exactly the fixture you have. Be careful with fixtures which have multiple operating modes. See the manual for full details of this operation. 5. You need to patch the fixtures on the desk to the same addresses that you set on the fixtures themselves. See the manual for full details of this operation. That's it! You're ready to start moving the lights around, changing the colours and programming some scenes. Book in for a Frog Training Day to learn all this and more. It's free, and we buy you lunch!
  19. 1. You need to have the desk in Partial Programming Mode to program a chase that is colour, beamshape, or position only. This is an option found in the Super User menus. 2. Live adjustment of chase modifiers (inc speed) was introduced in software release 9.0, download the latest software by CLICKING HERE. edit: fixed link
  20. If you just bought it, send it back to your distributor and they should repair/replace it for you. However if you're feeling adventurous, remove the front panel assembly from the base assembly (only 2 screws) and check all the ribbon cables are securely seated. This would be the most likely cause of the problem you describe.
  21. Yes! You can download the Phantom Frog from HERE. CLICK HERE for further discussion on the Phantom Frog and visualisation.
  22. Have a look at THIS TOPIC.
  23. 1) Palette-lock functionality was added in release 9.0. See the release notes for details. 2) This would require the desk to keep a history of data sent to LTP outputs, rather than simply keeping the last value which is what it does now. Big re-write of internal memory structures etc! 3) Movement effects are now recorded in position palettes (release 9.0). However since you can't currently record a movement effect separately from it's centre position, the overlap effect you describe cannot currently be achieved.
  24. Something that will go into the melting pot of ideas for future desks...

    macros

Frog Reference No 5425: Fixture Reset Function Due to the complex nature of resetting some fixtures, some kind of macro / scripting language may be required to implement this function. Macros are available on the Illusion 500 lighting desk. Not sure if advanced features like this will ever make it to Frog - we've got to hold some things in reserve to give you a reason to trade-up!
