  1. Looks OK to me. Have you got the Phantom Frog in Partial Programming mode?
  2. Hi Shabz, welcome to the forums! We're glad you like the desk which is 4.5 times the price! Seriously though, if you have any suggestions which you think would make the Diablo more friendly (apart from making it a whole lot bigger and adding bucketloads of more buttons and faders), we'd like to hear them. Cheers, Paul.

    Edit home

If you're willing to sacrifice a palette for this function, why would you care whether it was on the 'Palette1' button or the 'Home' button? It doesn't add anything. Like ice suggests, the best solution is to program Palette1 with the Home values, and then edit Palette1 as required.
  4. You didn't have Topset set to zero for all your channels by any chance did you?
  5. The standard 'g' that character LCD modules use is ugly. So we use our own special Zero88 'g' which looks much nicer. This is a user-defined character which is uploaded to the LCD module when the desk starts. Unfortunately character LCD modules were invented long before the dawn of time, and the documentation that comes with them is sketchy if not wrong. Some of the timing parameters are very variable and have to be discovered by experimentation. Uploading custom characters is such a case. If your particular LCD module varies from the norm by too much then it can intermittently miss the character upload, and hence display blank instead of the Zero88 'g'. Rebooting the desk will cause the custom characters to be uploaded to the LCD module again and clear the problem. Now aren't you glad you asked?
  6. We have seen problems with some floppy drives where the head doesn't go all the way to the first track of the disk at powerup, and hence the desk fails to recognise the upgrade disk. However if you power-cycle the desk 4 or 5 times, the head will eventually get to the first track and the disk will be recognised. It shouldn't matter which version of software is already installed on the desk, you can always upgrade straight to the latest version. However, since in version 7.5 the disk access speed was improved, maybe versions after this aren't so tolerant of problem drives.
  7. Yes you can fit the SMPTE/MIDI/CAN upgrade kit into a Bullfrog, provided it has the updated metal base tray with the extra mounting features for the kit. The update happened around October 2003. If your desk has a few extra holes on the back covered over with a metal blanking plate (not to be confused with the extra DMX sockets with plastic bungs in), then it's OK. However if your metal base tray is the older type, you'll need a new metal base tray together with some longer internal cables in order to accept the upgrade PCB. Contact our friendly service bloke Keith to discuss your options if this is the case. The part number and latest pricing for the upgrade kit can be found in the price lists on our main website: Edit: Updated link for new website.

    Chilli Pro's

A few questions first, since we can't immediately think what the problem is... How old are your dimmers? What firmware version do they report at switch-on? Have you got any Chillinet panels connected? Are they Chilli Pro 4's, 12's or 24's? What desk are you using? Are there any specific channels that always get stuck on? Have you tried the 'Reset Dimmer' function on the dimmers? Does this clear the problem? Regards, Paul.

    Newbie!

I presume you're referring to The Plugs and Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994 SI 1994 No. 1768 . These regulations specifically apply to domestic/consumer products. All of our products are sold solely for professional use and are as such not covered by this legislation. That said, for users' convenience, we are considering supplying product with pre-wired plugs. However as Pipo says, there are issues to do with national standards here, which we need to look at in relation to stocking logistics etc. For instance some of our distributors buy one product from us, yet ship to multiple international destinations.
  10. All Frogs have been shipping with the monitor output fitted since the middle of 2001. Sounds like they have one of the very early desks. If they want to upgrade the desk, there are a few options we offer: 0073700 Frog/Fat Frog Monitor Upgrade Kit 0074000 Frog Monitor Upgrade Kit/ST2 0074100 Fat Frog Monitor Upgrade Kit/ST2 Contact one of our friendly sales folk for prices...
  11. The Diablo handles all parameters as 8-bit, so if your fixture has 16-bit parameters, you have to program the 'Course' (MSB) and 'Fine' (LSB) values separately. The manual can be found HERE. although you're right, it makes no mention of this! edit: fixed link
  12. ... or buy an Illusion, then you can look at it all graphically on the cueline screen, and not get horribly confused by wordy posts which you'd have to draw a picture of to understand anyhow
  13. This has been mentioned before, CLICK HERE. The LEDs on the Frog panels can only be on or off. They don't dim like the green output LEDs on old desks like Sirius/XLS did. So you wouldn't get a very good indication of what the scene looked like anyhow. We took the view that if you wanted this sort of information you could look at it on the external monitor display, hence it's not displayed using the channel flash button LEDs. Having a whole load of LEDs on the panel flashing on and off might be a bit distracting for some users. And since now in release 9, you can lock the channel flash buttons to be palette select, you could have a right confusing state of affairs about what the LEDs in the buttons were showing you at any given time. Also, see K-Nine's comments about overloading of these buttons in THIS TOPIC. edit: fixed links
  14. The details of my life are quite inconsequential... Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for ducky. My mother was a fifteen year old French duck named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian woman named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.
  15. Moderation: Split from Frogs and the Future as this feature is available now You can do this already on the Frogs. If you hold down colour, beamshape or position (maybe brightness too, can't remember), then hit a fixture select button, the colour, beamshape or position data will be copied from the fixture button you just hit to all the selected fixtures. Simple. A bit like selecting a palette, except that the source data is another fixture. Obviously works best if the fixtures are of the same type!

    Keyboard GO

The keyboard issue has already been discussed a few times before. See the following for starters: http://support.zero88.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17 http://support.zero88.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=755 The ability to name things with the external keyboard has been in since about release 3. Bear in mind though that backspace and delete don't currently do anything! The latest software is release 9.6, it's well worth updating your desk if it's not running this. The naming of submaster pages has already been suggested: http://support.zero88.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=827
  18. Ahh, but if you have hymns, then you'd have candles. Whereas if you have songs, then you might have fancy lighting too...???
  19. What additional movement effects would you like? The thing is, it's the simple geometric patterns that often look the best. Yes we could do hexagons, octagons etc, but would they just look like lumpy cirles?
  20. The short answer is no. The long answer is in all the above posts (topics merged).

    Blackout??

Oops  Sounds like there was a mistake building your desks! Give our friendly service bloke Keith a call to discuss your options for getting some LEDs in your buttons. Keith will be able to discuss possible remedies with you, depending on how handy you are with a screwdriver and a soldering iron. <-- Keith It would be useful if you had the serial number of the desk to hand to help us trace the source of the problem. Please accept our apologies for this mixup. Paul.
  22. What type of fixtures are you using? Is it just pan/tilt that are slow to respond or all parameters? Is this the old movement speed thing: http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=490 Frog series DMX break time (STMain2 processor board) is 130us. p.s. Which type of Frog do you have, and which software version are you running? edit: fixed link
  23. With the movement effect set to off, set the pan/tilt to point the lights at the middle of the crowd. Then turn on the movement effect, and slowly increase the X size and Y size so the effect sweeps only over the crowd. Doesn't matter where the lights are in relation to the crowd, but one thing to remember with moving heads is that circles can become figure-8's, depending on which way the light is pointing... The 'offset' function is specific to movement effects (position only), and cannot be used elsewhere. See THIS TOPIC. Really the best way to see what you can do with the movement effect parameters (and wheel editing modes) is to set half a dozen or so lights (of the same kind) in a line, and sit down for 20 minutes and experiment. With the wheels in fan mode, adjust the offset, and you'll very quickly get some nice looking effects. edit: fixed link
  24. You could always load the show onto Phantom Frog on your laptop, and use that to show other screens, while the live data is displayed on the Real Frog monitor / LCD displays. Might be useful if you just want to see palette names, find a memory, look at the patch etc. while you're running your show.
  25. Use the search tool to look for test mode...
