Extract from the specification: >>>>>>>> Clearing Referenced Palettes If fixture data programmed in a palette is changed to “unprogrammed†or a palette is cleared – for any memories / submasters / SXs which referenced the data in the palette – the palette reference will be replaced by the actual DMX value in the palette before the data in the palette is cleared. <<<<<<<< This is the reason that the desk needs to check all memories / submasters / SXs when a palette is reprogrammed, which then causes the RAM buffer to be filled up quickly. I can't immediately think of a way of programming around this I'm afraid. However if you could propose an alternative behaviour to that described above, for when referenced palettes are reprogrammed, then it might get looked at in a future software release. Perhaps memories / submasters / SX's could be ignored when palettes are reprogrammed, and if you delete something from a palette that was referenced elsewhere, it's just tough luck, and nothing will be output when that memory / submaster / SX is replayed. Would this be acceptable, or seen as a bug?

Recovery mode only stores the following states: - current screen - current and next memory numbers - submaster page and overlay - SX button states (Mambo only) When you are editing memories/submasters/SXs/palettes, the changes are stored in a battery backed RAM inside the desk. When this buffer fills up, the desk flushes the changes to internal FLASH memory, which is when you see the "saving show please wait" message. When you edit a palette, this can result in changes to alot of data, which would quickly fill up the RAM buffer and force the flush to FLASH memory.

What do you mean by "disabled the autosave"? Which menu did you use to do this?

This fault has been logged to be fixed: Illusion Reference 4728: Chases on submasters lose speed setting when show is saved to internal Flash or Floppy.

The Alcora/Elara memory module can only hold one show. There's usually no need to wipe the module, as you can simply save a new show on top of the old one. However if you really want to wipe it, then the best way (and I think the only way) is to first wipe the desk then save the (empty) show from the desk to the module. Of course you then lose the show on the desk too...

Try putting the desk into test mode (hold down F1 at startup). This will allow you to see the exact readings from all the panel controls on the main LCD. This will help to isolate the problem to the hardware. Use the channel flash buttons to select different test pages. If your fader is still reading FF, then it's probably faulty. Get the desk back to the dealer you bought it from and they should be able to fix it for you. Let us know how you get on! Paul.

Is anyone aware of any other desks which have this 'offline' feature, or are we making up new ideas here?

Reference numbers for the bugs/requests related to the lock function: Frog Reference 5421 - Extend the Lock function to prevent saving the show to floppy disk Frog Reference 5507 - Should not be able to edit memory, submaster or SX button names if the desk is locked (fixed in 9.8). Frog Reference 5508 - Should not be able to edit submaster fade times, actions, trigger levels etc. if the desk is locked (fixed in 9.8). Also... Frog Reference 5522 - Fade Up, Fade Down, LTP Fade, C/B/P Actions, Mem Dwell, Mem Trigger, Sub/SX LTP TL, SX Action to be preserved when overwriting Memories/Submasters/SXs. Is the general consensus (on Frog Reference 5421): A - Extend the current lock function to disable the entire panel (except the lock button, obviously!) or... B - Have two different lock levels, one which prevents modification (and possibly saving of) show data, plus an additional one which disables the entire panel?

Phantom Frog cannot output DMX by any method currently. We have to consider how many desks we wouldn't sell if we upgraded Phantom Frog to do this  To connect one of the real desks to a PC running WYSIWYG, just connect the desk's DMX output to the WYSIWYG dongle. The other half of WYSIWYG (where WYSIWYG talks back to the desk via some other interface - MIDI or Ethernet as I recall) isn't currently supported by the Frog series. If you look around the forum for other visualisation topics, you'll also see Capture Sweden mentioned. Worth a look at this too.

If you're editing a memory/submaster/sx, then the channel level fields on the display behave like every other numeric data entry field on the desk, and you can use the external keyboard to type in a level. All numeric data entry must be completed by pressing Enter. What you can't do though is use the external keyboard to enter the channel number, since this is not a numeric data entry field.

You can, you just need to buy the WYSIWYG DMX Input dongle for your PC.

Infact the Phantom Bullfrog Preset A faders are muddled from 26 onwards. We'll put this on the list to be fixed in the next release. Yes, it's what's on the monitor (not the sliders) that will be recorded.

Hi ice, Thanks for the photo. There is a UV lacquer applied to the base material over the LCD displays to ensure that the windows are clear. It seems that the UV lacquer doesn't react well to certain cleaning fluids, coke, beer etc. We are following three lines of investigation on this: a ) Whether anything can be done about the lacquer/application process to lessen the likelihood of this happening. b ) Which type of cleaning fluid should be used. c ) If there is an easy way of repairing the lacquer. We will keep you updated once we have further information. Regards, Paul.

Can you take a photo of it and post it here so we can have a look?

You could try creating your own fixture types with the Fixture Type Editor that contain multiple physical fixtures. See the following topics: http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86 http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=499 http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2061

Now where did you get this idea from? Yes you could do this sort of thing on the XL/XLS. No you can't do it currently on the Frog series. The only thing MIDI currently does is MIDI timecode.

If you look in the Chilli or Spice manuals, there are some pretty pictures and further description of the laws: Frog Reference 5418 - Dimmer Laws

We have released version 7.5 of the software for the Illusion 120/240. This should correct the problems with the A/B playback. It can be downloaded from HERE.

Might be a problem with the battery in your desk. There are 2 types of main board that are used in the Frog Series desks. Earlier desks used the STMain1/1B board, which had a 3.6V NiMH battery soldered to the board. Later desks use the STMain2 board, which has a 3V CR2032 Lithium coin cell. In either case, open up the desk and measure the battery voltage with a multimeter to check that it is OK.

We did add the desk light pinout information in the latest issue of the Frog manuals. Have a look in the back under 'Technical Specification'. You can download the latest manuals from HERE.

Just something to bear in mind, if you clear your palettes, then you will lose all your references to them in any memories, submasters or SX's. I'm presuming that the purpose of clearing all the palettes, specifically all the position palettes, is to make it easier to reprogram them, for example when moving into a new venue where all the positions will have changed. To get rid of that pop-up that asks you to confirm whether you want the palette overwritten or not. To this end, bearing in mind that you might want to keep your palette references in memories/submasters/SX's intact, would it not be a more useful option be to have a setting somewhere in super user, to allow overwrites of palette data without the confirmation pop-up? Maybe this would also disable the same confirmation on overwriting memories/submasters/SX's. We'd be interested to hear your comments on this.

Looks like we might have missed this one when Jan first raised it: http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=379 Frog Reference 5495 - Unassigning fixtures should only remove the corresponding fixture data from the programmed memories, submasters, SX buttons and palettes. Data for other fixture types programmed in the show should not be affected. See NZ's post below for details of the next scheduled release: http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4812#4812

Can you let us know the serial number of the desk to give us some idea of it's age? Also, is there anything displayed on the LCD or monitor during this 10 minute startup time?

There are currently no plans to release the show file format. See THIS POST from K-Nine. edit: fixed link
