  1. Come on folks, out with all your additional keyboard mappings! Let's do this all in one go, rather than over several software releases. Speak now, or forever hold thy peace We already have: Frog Reference 5419 - Modify the action of the cursor keys, and others where necessary on the external keyboard to relate to the monitor screen rather than simply mimic the front panel cursor keys. This will probably then require + and - to be used to mimic the + and - keys on the desk. Frog Reference 5493 - Use the function keys F5 - F8 on external keyboard as short cuts to fade times on memories screen.

We already have the following FR's logged, which should allow you to see when a chase advances (not only for sound input but for other drive options too): Frog Reference 5345 - When playing back a chase on Playback X, would like to see the current step number. Frog Reference 5357 - Manual Chases on Submasters - would be useful to be able to know what the current step is. [applies to other drive options too] Frog Reference 5427 - Indication on the Main LCD and appropriate monitor screen of chase speed and current step for the currently selected chase (memory, submaster, SX button).

  4. This is unlikely to happen in the current Frog series. What you're asking for is a syntax driven desk. This is not what the Frog is all about. With the Frogs, it's all there in front of you on buttons/faders. With the Illusion500 and Frog2, you type in through the syntax what you want. The Frog2 is a bit smarter than that though, since you can assign things to User Definable Keys (UDKs) and User Definable Faders (UDFs) on the panel, to get the instant-access that you get on the current Frogs. The Frogs are what they are, and if you want more of something, you have to use a bigger one.   5. This goes against the philosophy of the Frog series, which is that everything should be right there in front of you. If you're looking for a syntax driven desk, where you type in what you want rather than pushing the fader/button for it, then look at the Illusion 500 or Frog2.
  6. Not a bug. The value you see on the LCD is that for the primary fixture. The primary fixture is the one with the red LED flashing. 'Fan first' locks the first fixture and then fans the rest. So if your first fixture is also the primary fixture, you won't see any change on the LCD, since it is locked.
  7. Bear in mind you won't see the 'Assign Fixtures' menu in Desk Setup if you have the 'Frog' desk selected. You need to select one of the desks with Wheels on.
  8. No moving light functionality. It does have 12 Auxiliaries (24 on the big desk), which can each be assigned a DMX address and given an On level and an Off level. You can set these to Flash, Solo, or Go mode. Useful for strobes, smoke etc. You can also group more than one Auxiliary to a single DMX address, for controlling colour scrollers etc.
  9. The ID has been out of production for a while unfortunately. If you're looking for a second hand one, they come up on eBay occasionally.
  10. Hi Tergo, Your best bet may be to quickly create a simple show (either on Phantom Frog or a real desk) and save it to disk. Your IT technician should be able to analyse this example file to find the information they need about the data structure. Good luck! Paul.
  11. I was mulling over the possible implications of implementing this, hence was looking up all the related topics on the forum (adding Frog Reference numbers where necessary). You know, to see what ideas had already been suggested, given the desk's front panel wasn't originally designed for it...
  12. At the moment the desk only runs 2 chases on the Playback X, the Current and the Next. Any others are stopped, not because the desk couldn't do it, but to make the memory stack easier to understand. If we introduce full partial programming to parameter level (Frog Reference 5402) in a future release, then we will have to change the memory stack to full tracking (see THIS POST from NZ) at the same time. And a full tracking memory stack would be silly if it could only run 2 chases, so this limitation would most likely be lifted at the same time. Chases would then continue to run indefinitely until you deliberately programmed a cue to stop them. This would then allow you to run your 5 chases together, as 5 separate cues (with Auto-triggers and 0 dwell time most likely) from the Playback X.   13. Yep, this looks like a bug... Frog Reference 5523 - Beat Drive - chase should re-sync to second button press. Bug to be fixed in future release.

  15. The Sound input to the desk goes into a compander circuit, so within the specified range, the level should not matter. After the compander is a low-pass filter and integrator, to measure the average amount of bass in the signal. The software periodically samples this average, looking for sudden increases in the level to detect the bass beat. The actual performance of this is very dependant on the type of music you are putting into the desk. Sometimes the desk will get it right, sometimes it won't. Hardware/Software can never be as accurate as the human ear for detecting the true beat when there's lots of other noise mixed in. You should find that by putting a graphic equalizer on the sound feed to the desk, and experimenting with cutting/boosting various freqeuncies, you can improve the performance for any particular piece of music. Trouble is, you may have to keep tweaking the settings as the music changes...
  16. If you change the default submaster fade times in Super User to 0s in Super User, this problem should go away. The curious thing is though, the new default fade times do not seem to take effect on unprogrammed submasters unless you Clear them (select them and hold the Clear button down for a second or so) after changing the default :? In the next version of software we plan to change the default submaster fade times from 3.0s to 0s: Frog Reference 5516 - Default Submaster fade times to be 0s.   17. Hi Jeff, The fixture data appears on the fixtures LCD, not the main LCD. Use the wheels to modify it in the usual way, then hit Edit again to save the changes (there will be a confirmation pop-up). I'd strongly recommend upgrading your desk to the latest version (CLICK HERE), you'll find a lot of bugs have gone away. For upgrade instructions CLICK HERE. Regards, Paul.
  18. Sorry Jeff, my last comment was directed at ice, to try and clarify what was actually fixed in 9.8. If you 'Edit' a memory, using the Edit button (as opposed to just playing it and then over-programming it with the 'Program' button), the movement effects will be correctly preserved. Palettes are different, since you can't use the 'Edit' button to edit them. You have to over-program them. In 9.8 we fixed over-programming palettes. Not over-programming Memories/Submasters/SXs. I think ice was trying to suggest, that if you link the Memory to a Palette, then you will be able to do your edits by over-programming the palette, without using the 'Edit' button. From this and various other posts, there does seem to be some resistance to using the 'Edit' button. People seem to want to output something, tweak it, then re-record. Did we put a button on the desk that nobody wants? Should we lose the function and make the button do something more interesting (like go straight to Blind edit?)
  19. Release 9.8 corrected the problem with losing movement effects for playing and re-recording palettes. Kind of important, since you can't 'Edit' a palette in the same way you can with a Memory/Submaster/SX.
  20. You could call it future-proofing, for the lightning-fast fixtures we hope somebody will invent one day :wink: Alternatively... Frog Reference 5406 - Movement Effect Speed parameter - needs to be scaled down as anything much above 15 (moving heads) or 30 (scanners) - the fixtures cannot keep up !!
  21. With the current software, you need to use the 'Edit' function to achieve this. You cannot simply play a memory, change the look, and re-record the memory. As you have noticed, this will lose the movement effects. We hope to change the software in the future so that running movement effects will be displayed on the LCD and hence recorded as such, rather than the instantaneous snapshot of the outputs you currently get.
  22. Bear in mind that the movement effect Speed parameter on the desk is a bit over-powerful! Most moving mirrors can't keep up with it being greater than about +/-30 (although it depends on the size of the effect too). Start off at about +/-10, and you should see something sensible.
  23. Frog Reference 5522 - Fade Up, Fade Down, LTP Fade, C/B/P Actions, Mem Dwell, Mem Trigger, Sub/SX LTP TL, SX Action to be preserved when overwriting Memories/Submasters/SXs.

    9.8 problems

    Frog Reference 5519 - Scroll Lock and Num Lock problems on external keyboard causing keyboard to lock up. Bug to be fixed in next release.
  25. Frog Reference 5518 - Brightness button to be added to lockable palettes screens (Colour/Beamshape/Position), to allow Channel Flash or SX buttons to be used for their normal function. We need to decide what the monitor should display when locked on 'Brightness', since there are no Brightness palettes. Any suggestions?
