You need to set the DMX start addresses on the Mojo's to something greater than 96. Then make sure that the fixtures on the desk are patched to the same DMX addresses. Patching fixtures is a different operation to Assigning fixtures. Both need to be done correctly to be able to control the scans from the wheels.

When you record a memory/submaster/SX, any Colour/Beamshape/Position attribute showing on the wheel LCD as Pxx (xx is the palette number) will record a link to the palette rather than the current output value. Hence changing the palette will change everything that is linked to it. In Frog2, you can if you like store any attribute (including Intensity) in any palette.

As Jon says, it's not recommended to run moving lights from dimmer outputs. Firstly, triac dimmers do not conduct for the full mains cycle, even with a 100% control input. There's always a few volts either side of the null where the triac does not conduct. This "few volts" is a deliberate design feature to prevent the triac from conducting into the next mains cycle and creating a flicker, a particular problem when dimming reactive loads. Secondly, good old human error. One day someone will repatch your dimmers, or change the switch law, and boom... We now offer the Switch6. Virtually identical to a Rack6, but instead of triacs inside, it has 6 heavy duty relays. Available with all the usual socket options, it's ideal for switching power to moving lights.

Regarding controlling power relays and having them NOT subject to Blackout/GM/Solo, you can simply create a fixture personality which controls these channels as LTP. Regarding holding a fixture channel at a known value, I think if you create a fixture personality which includes the channel in the fixture definition, but not in the wheel group information, then it will be fixed at it's home value and not be editable. Maybe someone more proficient than I with the Fixture Type Editor can tell us more, or try this out and let us know if it works...

I guess you didn't have the opportunity to pop out the DMX, go into Desk Setup and unpatch the bad scroller, then pop the DMX back in?

Primary Fixture gets lost in Group Palette after reboot
Paul replied to Morn's topic in Frog Range MK1
I tried it on a Fat Frog here, and don't seem to have this problem either. Can you give any further details of how to reproduce the problem? Off-topic, but does anyone else think that when the monitor is locked on the 'Groups' screen, that the Flash/SX keys should also lock to group selection, similar to how palettes now lock? -
Programming Palettes still available when desk is locked
Paul replied to Morn's topic in Frog Range MK1
Frog Reference 5524 - Should not be able to program/clear palettes or groups when the desk is locked. Bug to be fixed in next release. -
The official line (from the founding directors of Zero88) is: Zero - as that's where the company started from 88 - as that seemed far enough in the future at the time (founded in Oct 1972!)

I think there's possibly 2 issues here... Firstly, you can't currently program down to parameter level (do a search for Frog Reference 5402 to see the many discussions on this). Secondly, you can't control the level of an LTP channel with a submaster fader.
-
Hi gress, The 5% setting you mention is the LTP Trigger Level. When the submaster is raised past this level, then LTP channels programmed in that submaster are "triggered". If the action is set to Snap, then the programmed values will appear immediately on the DMX outputs. If the action is set to Fade, then the DMX outputs will fade from their current values to the programmed values over the LTP Fade Time. Hope this helps, Paul.

It's all in the manual! If you find something that isn't, let us know. Go on, I dare you...

Hi folks, We do appreciate people taking the time to post comments about the desks on the forum. They do all get read (eventually, little orange flags permitting!) and discussed around the office. Even if suggestions don't make it into the desk, they do give us ideas for other products. Frog2 is a product that was born out of the many suggestions on this forum which could not be satisified on the Frog1 hardware. You will understand that we have to make judgements about what is reasonable and practical to implement in the desk. Since we do not charge for software updates, we need to ensure that those which we invest our time in including, give the most benefit to the majority of users. We would also like them to result in increased sales of the desks! Other considerations are what competition the desks are up against in the market, how the Frog's fit into our product range, how any changes will affect the ease-of-use of the desk, what other projects we need to be working on etc. etc. In this particular case, whilst we understand that it may be a nuisance that the desk cannot run the show while in Super User, there's not really a lot we can do about it. Super-User is a deliberately hidden menu that is only meant for use during setup, and not for when the punters are in the room. There are many other feature suggestions on this forum which will give real operational benefits to many users, and these are the ones which we will concentrate on for future releases. When you see a Frog Reference number, do a search for it and see how many other topics come up. That will give you a measure of what the real big issues are. Paul.

This sort of functionality is really Frog2 territory. On the Frog2, you can set a different fade time for every single parameter if you like! As sp suggests, put the submasters next to each other on the same page. Alternatively experiment with a 1-shot chase transferred to a single submaster. Another idea might be to use the Playback X with Auto Triggers.

Hi Paul, No, there are no hidden files, just the .isf . Are the problem disks 1.44MB HD? You've not found some old 720K DD disks from the olden days have you? We've got a box of old really disks here and I'm sure some of them are those 80's ones!! I know this might be a silly question, but it's not the write protect tab on the disk is it? Regards, Paul.

The Preview window is a pop-up (albeit a full screen pop-up), rather than one of the main background screens (Memories, Submasters, Outputs, SXs, Palettes, Groups, Fixture Outputs). That's why you see it even when the main background screen is locked. Is this just an observation, or a bug you need fixed? Would you prefer all pop-ups to be disabled on a locked monitor display, or just the Preview pop-up?
-
Since you're meddling with some fairly fundamental settings in Desk Setup, the desk does have to stop the show I'm afraid, as all the internal desk data is being reprocessed and moved about.

I think this is another opportunity to plug the little known about Fixture Outputs Screen. Hold down F1 and press a fixture selection button. Very useful, particularly when using the fan editing functions.

Map Fixture Values to external Monitor in Editing Mode?
Paul replied to Morn's topic in Frog Range MK1
It's a funny old world, you get a desk, and then don't want to use it, instead everything has to be possible from just the keyboard and monitor... Is this some sly subversive attempt to get a fully working desk with just a Frog Box, Monitor and Keyboard? This one goes a bit deeper than just making things appear on the external monitor. The monitor is mostly a rearranged mimic of what's on the LCD on the desk. In the Edit Live/Blind windows (monitor and LCD), channel values can be edited with the cursors and numeric keypad. Not so with fixture data, as this opens up all sorts of complex issues to do with display and editing of 16-bit values, palettes, FROG function etc. The Frog desks are designed so that fixture data is edited only from the wheels and associated buttons. If it appears in the Edit windows, then really it has to be editable there too. Imagine a fully loaded Mambo Frog (96 fixtures), the Edit window would become enormous and unusable with perhaps 1024 control channels to look at. The fixtures LCD and associated controls are the best way to navigate this data. -
Always works for me, even under Windows XP SP2. Do you have Phantom Frog 9.8 on your PC, and also 9.8 installed on the desk? I'm guessing here, but is it some antivirus software, account priviliges or something else you have installed that's stopping Phantom Frog from talking to the floppy drive?
-
Do you have the 'Floppy Path' setting in Phantom Frog pointing at your floppy drive (usually A:) ? The panel artworks in Phantom Frog are quite low resolution, in order to keep the download to a reasonable size. If you hover over the controls, you will see some help text appear in the status bar (bottom left) to tell you what they are.
-
The idea of having SX's on desks other than the Mambo has already been suggested and put to death HERE.
-
Correct, currently you can not patch duplicates of fixtures as you can with generic channels. This is a bit of a pain (particularly with Mambo Frog which has no generic channels), so... Frog Reference 5463 - Allow duplicate patching of fixtures to different DMX addresses. Some dimmers (e.g. Chilli Pro) will allow you to patch individual channels on the dimmer separately, rather than the whole lot at once, to help you get around this limitation. Being able to have more than one HTP channel per fixture is also a much requested feature... Frog Reference 5411 - Allow more than one HTP parameter to be defined in Brightness for a fixture. The first one is more likely to happen than the second, since the second would also require mods to the fixture tools, fixture library format, other desks that use the same fixture library etc. etc.
-
Frog Reference 5493 - Use the function keys F5 - F8 on external keyboard as short cuts to fade times on memories screen.

Ahhh, this one again. Frog Reference 5408 - Button to allow quick escape or quit from menus. See also THIS TOPIC. edit: fixed link
