Hi pollywog, The Fat Frog has a limit of 288 LTP Channels. That equates to 24 per fixture if you use all 12 fixtures. If you try and load a show which has more than 288 LTP Channels on to a Fat Frog, it should simply disregard any fixtures which it does not have room for. If you are getting a blue screen crash when loading the show from Phantom onto a Bullfrog, then can you check that both are running the latest software (CLICK HERE). If the problem persists, then email us the showfile (techsupp@zero88.com) and we'll look into it. Thanks, Paul.

In short, I think the answer to your question is no. The position of the submaster fader determines the output level of the HTP channels (dimmer channels and fixture brightness parameters) programmed in the submaster. LTP channels (fixture colour, beamshape and position parameters) programmed in the submaster are triggered when the submaster is raised past the LTP trigger level.

I agree it would be nice to have a quick way of clearing all the tags. Not sure about the exact button though. The Clear button on the Frogs has a very specific function, would it mess with people's minds to give it another? Although if as you say the precedent is already set on other desks, maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all? Using a Function button with the fixture button would only untag the one fixture. Plus aren't you all already having enough trouble remembering what the different function buttons do? :-) Some other combinations that might work: WheelGroup (Shift) + Clear : Clear all tags WheelGroup (Shift) + Home : Clear tags for selected fixtures Since after all, the WheelGroup button is now the magic untagging button, maybe either of these might feel more natural / be easier to remember?

The 'FIX BR' bar at the bottom of the memories screen shows the levels of the 'virtual presets' that are controlled by the wheels for the fixtures. These are mixed HTP with other brightness sources (e.g. submasters and playback stack), and so aren't necessarily the same as the current outputs. Have a look on the outputs screen if you want to see the current outputs. See also THIS TOPIC.

Jester Operating Software version 1.4 has been released, and is available for download from the Zero 88 support website. CLICK HERE. This contains a number of fixes for minor bugs found in earlier versions. To update the desk: 1. Download the zip file, and extract the contents to a USB memory stick. This will be a file with the extension .jos. It is important that you only have one .jos file on the USB memory stick at any one time. 2. Plug the USB memory stick into the desk. 3. Switch on the desk with the Left and Right cursor keys held down. The Jester Upgrade Menu will appear on the LCD and monitor screen. The monitor screen is quite distinctive - it looks like a red and yellow circus tent. 4. Wait for the USB memory stick to be recognised by the desk. This is usually indicated by the LED on the memory stick flickering for a short time, and then returning to a steady flash. 5. With the cursors flashing on <OK>, press the Enter button. When the desk displays the name of the upgrade file found, ensure <OK> is selected and press Enter again to begin the upgrade. 6. The desk will now perform the upgrade. Do not switch off while this is happening. 7. When the upgrade is complete, press Enter to start the desk, there is no need to switch off and reboot.

I tried it here and it didn't work But then all the USB/PS2 adaptors I could find were either green or had pictures of mice on them, suggesting no good for a keyboard. I think the keyboard has to support PS2 (as well as USB) mode, which it detects from the adaptor by looking at the power lines or something. I don't think the adaptors are a generic USB keyboard host you can use with any keyboard. Maybe they only make them for mice too, not altogether sure. Sorry I can't be any more helpful than that I'm afraid.

I think I've tracked this one down now, it's a bug: Frog Reference 5533 - When editing, the channel tags for the MSB of 16-bit parameters are not loaded/saved correctly. Will be fixed in the next release.

If the monitor is locked on palettes, you can still see your memory stack on the LCD on the desk. The idea of locking a monitor screen is that it's locked, it could quickly start to get messy if you introduced exceptions to this, for some people it would be great, others may hate it Not sure how feasible split screens would be with the Frog's text display. Frog2 does split screens very nicely though. Plus it has 2 monitors to play with.

Yes this is true. Alcora and Elara will be no more.

Full information on the Jester (including manuals) is available on the main Zero88 website. CLICK HERE.

You don't have to have 'faders' (as in channel faders) on a lighting desk. On a Mambo Frog, you have 96 'fixtures', each of which can be assigned as a single dimmer channel, or as a more complex moving light. On desks such as the Illusion 500 and Frog 2, you don't have 'faders' either, you access your lights by typing in their numbers through command syntax e.g. 1 THRU 10 @ FULL. As others have said, the Mambo Frog was the last desk to join the Frog family before Frog 2, and doesn't really fit in any sort of order, since it is indeed aimed more at the club market. Just a quick note on posting questions: Whilst Zero 88 staff and other forum users are happy to answer genuine questions, it can be frustrating to see questions come up to which the answer could have easily been found by a quick search of the website/forum or a read through the manuals. It would be appreciated if all forum users could make at least a brief attempt to find the answer to their question by one of these means, before starting a new topic. Pointless posts will be removed in order to preserve these forums as a useful technical resource. Sorry, but you're not going to increase your forum rank by just adding 'LOL' or the like to the end of old topics  Thanks guys, now play nicely

Have you tried reading the manual? CLICK HERE. There is a quick-start section at the front of the manual that should be what you're looking for.

We're working on an update which will fix this and the other issues introduced in 10.0. To get it out quickly, it will only be fixes, no major new functions just yet. All I can say is "ASAP" I'm afraid, no promises on dates. But we are talking days rather than weeks

Yes, this is a bug  Frog Reference 5532 - After selecting a palette, the wheel LCD displays the parameter names from the wrong wheel group. To be fixed in the next release.

I doubt the rental company would mind (or notice!) if you upgraded their desk to the latest version, but it might be polite to ask, or at least let them know you've done it. You could always put the original version back on the desk before you return it to them, then they'd never even know  I think a version 10.0 show should run OK on a 9.x desk, but you might get some odd stuff going on with the partial memories. It's not something we've tried or aim to support I'm afraid.
-
Why would you want to? Just upgrade the desk...

Why did we replaced Sirius with Frog, Betapack1 with Betapack2, Rackmaster with Rack6, Contour Installation with Chilli, XL/XLS with Alcora/Elara and now Jester, Alphapack1 with Alphapack2, Level with Level Plus, Contour with Spice, the list goes on... The answer is simple, we need to keep the products up to date to remain competitive in the marketplace. Install6 offers a number of features that Chilli Jr did not, for example multiple memories, individual preheats, Chillinet control, XLR connectors for DMX, selectable DMX termination and over-temperature shutdown.

Hold down Colour AND Beamshape, then hit Program. This will record only Colour and Beamshape.

Moderation: Further discussion on tracking moved to THIS TOPIC.

You're right, outputting a submaster which contains only pan/tilt and not the movement, should not stop the movement that is currently happening. But it does, which is a bug . Curiously it stops the movement effect without causing it to become tagged though :?. The same also seems to happen on the memory stack and with SXs. In fact the only thing that seems to work as it should are the palettes. Frog Reference 5531 - Outputting a Memory/Submaster/SX stops the movement effect even if it is not programmed. If you find anything else position / movement effect related, please post it here.

The implementation we had envisaged, was that if you set the Program Mode to Full in SuperUser, that tracking would be off, and that if you set the Program Mode to Partial in SuperUser, that tracking would be on. Would this be OK for you? Or would you want to program in partial mode but without tracking? I can't really see how this would be useful, since a partial memory stack without tracking (which is what the Frog does currently) isn't the most useful way for the desk to work. If you jump around the stack you get all sorts of wierd and wonderful states. All comments gratefully received...

Using the wheels to adjust a parameter wouldn't be too useful on the Frog desk, it doesn't have any :-) The issue you raise though has come up a number of times, if you do a search for the following Frog Reference numbers, you'll find further discussion on it... Frog Reference 5419 - Modify the action of the cursor keys (and other keys as necessary) on the external keyboard to relate to the monitor screen rather than simply mimic the front panel cursor keys. Frog Reference 5493 - Use the function keys F5 - F8 on external keyboard as short cuts to fade times on memories screen.

Correct. Indeed! Again, talk to Keith (when he's back from PLASA), who will be able to discuss with you various options for the repair of the faulty units.

Hi headroom, Welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Rack6's. Have you confirmed that you have +12V going to the fan from the main board? I would have thought it unlikely that this should be the cause of the problem, since the same +12V also feeds (via a +5V regulator) the control electronics, and you don't report any problems there. If the +12V is OK, then it looks like the fans have failed or there is a bad connection to the main PCB. If it is the fans, then give Keith (our service guy) a call after PLASA, then he'll be able to talk through your options with you. If you're handy with a screwdriver, he can simply send you some new fans. We don't make circuit diagrams and service information generally available, since we don't want to encourage most people to open up the equipment. However if you speak to Keith nicely and convince him you won't kill yourself or anyone else, he may email you the relevant information. Regards, Paul.
