  1. Really kind of stupid I haven't thought of this one before; but why limit the effects generator for pan/tilt purposes only??? As we see on other desks it can be used for all parameters. Ok, here comes the partial programming discussion again I guess; but I really can't figure out why you'd build an effects generator (powerfull thing!) and link it to the position of fixtures; I think you would have gained more profit by using it everywhere.
  2. Hi there, in a few weeks I'll be touring with a show around the Netherlands. I've got everything sorted out fine, but I'm stumbeling on a programming issue I can't solve. The show contains 10 Martin 518, 4 MAC Kryptons and 4 250 washes. In one of the scenes there's supposed to be a snowfall. I want to do that with a gobo projection which "falls down from the sky". The problem: a continuous snowfall would require the fixtures to go down and up again. Since snowflakes travelling upwards are kinda fake I'd like the fixtures to dim when they move upwards. Ok: create a chase with on downwards movement, and one upwards... no problem; but when I'd want to do that with 18 fixtures, it'll certainly be a mess (since it's no option programming the same movement; that would suck)! So how would you create such an effect. 100% on the way down, 0% on the way up; and all fixtures following a different pattern (that could be done by the offset of course). I'm stuck!
  3. I think ours is about... eeeh 2 years old, is that possible? Don't really know, but I'll try to find out.
  4. 20 minutes? whoah show me!!! are those SX buttons that cool? I usually program for about an hour on moves / chases / pallets... Too bad, but I haven't found a quick way of recycling my old shows, since the setup changes everytime, and copying standard pallets is not done
  5. Richard idea works quite nice; you could also group your subs like this: 1-4 : MAC250: dimmer - colour - beamshape - position 5-8 : MAC300: dimmer - colour - beamshape - position 9-12 : PRO518: dimmer - colour - beamshape - position that's the way I program my shows; and each page contains a different program; named on the submasters screen. A rather efficient way! Sometimes I use page 20 for groups of conventionals (like PARs with the same filters, or effects) and stuff like that; but of course you're free to develop another excellent way of programming; just let us know!
  6. You could of course use the search http://support.zero88.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=204
  7. I've had some problems like this too. Didn't bother me because the movement speed of the macs calculated a fine move for me, so I used that. I wasn't able to get a nice smooth move out of it, maybe something to test with an actual head in stead of the phantom.
  8. Yeah that editing was improved, the live-edit of movement effects works fine, completely true. Unsure how it responds when you use a pallet? But i'd say you should be able to alter the parameters and re-save the pallet?
  9. Definitely won't pay that; but I've got the solution. I'm looking into the possibilities of modifying a normal keybord into a frog-one... of course I can't do magic with the software-way of button pressing, but the function keys which aren't used; and wont be for now can be replaced with remote triggers for example... just need the time to do it
  10. Nope that's not true I think... when you run a movement recorded in a scene the pan - tilt paramaters on the LCD will display the values begin output => so they go up and down the whole time, according to the movement. As soon as you even touch one of the wheels, the value at that point will be raised / lowered (depends on the movement you made) and lock in that value: movement will be killed. At least that's what I thought; I ran into this problem a couple of times, but always managed to do somekind of work-around. I'll try to open up the desk one of these days to try it.
  11. I don't know how it would react when you save the movement as a pallet; and use that in your memory. I'm not totaly sure about this but I think movement on the pallets can be altered; and the pan/tilt positions modified. Another possibility: program one pallet for the positions (for instance P01), another for the movement (use P01 for the position parameter; and change the rest to your needs). You should try this, and take a look at what happens when you alter P01... If that works let me know; would be rather cool! Just don't get your hopes up, I don't think it will..

    Frog manuals

Is there some way to find out which OS version a specific manual is written for? I know version 5 is the latest version available, but I can't seem to find which OS version it covers?

    How do I

You should set up your desk in partial mode (in superuser), and tag the fixtures you want to program. That's your problem, please see the manual on how to set up your desk properly and tagging the correct fixtures; it's all there

    Chases

I was wondering about that same thing myself, a kind of dwell time each step would be rather cool; but i guess it would take a load of programming work? (don't really know how you implemented it?) Oh well; just program the same scene twice; it'll run twice as long
  15. Anykind of release date on that new issue? Haven't continued translating cause I'll start again with the next version.
  16. Of course you could use that thing most people call a "pen" or something
  17. Ok, the manual didn't work last time I checked... now it does; certainly will look into it!
  18. Ok, there are some topics covering the Frog screen, and the Frog box. I understand the idea of the box, but what about the screen? I couldn't find it at the website, so that's why I opened this topic. Please explain what the screen is used for exactly. Can it be attached to our leapfrog (we do not have a frogbox, and don't intend to buy one), and what functionality would it give me??
  19. Just repeat the upgrade procedure a few times; maybe it'll eventually upgrade. You could try a new disk; format it with the desk, copy the file again and try to upgrade. If 8.1 loads properly there can't be something wrong with your drive, so it must be the floppy itself. By the way; this is the wrong place for this question... should be moved
  20. Program a chase as described in the user manual, use the "bass" drive as input (selection button) and insert a jack connection from your audio-desk into the frog. When you put the bass on that signal it should work fine.
  21. That's a matter of one option like "autostop" in the chase setup. Set to "yes": nothing changes in the way it runs now. Set no "no"; chase won't stop until you select something else for that parameter. That would indeed mean a more advanced way of programming. That's actually might be an idea to consider for the Frog 2. Since you have the normal - superuser mode setup, why not create a third one? That would be: normal - advanced - super user. Normal users use normal mode for easy operating, and quick shows. Advanced users program their shows in advanced mode, and super user stays the same. That would eliminate the problem of "everyone should be able to understand it".
  22. Don't want roles; want chases which go back & forth the whole time, beat tapped ofcourse ... Same for gobo things... it's too bad a chase is stopped when the sub is down. I know sometimes that's exactly what you want, but it really should be a choice I guess.. it would make things so much easier when for instance such a colour chase keeps on going until you tell it to stop (by selecting something else!). That sort of thing isn't possible I guess?

    Frogs and the Future ?

Is this new desk aiming at live or theater use? The combination of those two on the Frog isn't really an ideal one I think; that would explain why there is such a gap between theaterdesks and live ones.

    Frogs and the Future ?

That would definitely depend on the lay-out / software. If you develop a way of easy programming using faders; implement it! If you develop a way of easy programming using a keypad; implement it! I don't think it's a question of "what to use", it's more "how to use it". As we can see; Hogs use keyspads, maxxyz & MA use faders & a bunch of keys, it just depends on the software you write I gues... I don't really care what's used; as long as it's a quick, easy & understandable way of programming. I think you should throw the Frog aspect aside for a while, and try to make a list of what u guys want to implement. Of course a MaXXyZ kind of desk is out of range; but you could combine the neat (and affordable) things from all of those desks (like a rol-a-cue, or lcd-buttons) into one Zero desk! There's a saying in Holland; better stealing a good idea than inventing a bad one  . With all respects to copyrights and things like that of course!
