  1. Hello,

No problem. We are continuing to compile knowledge base articles about these sorts of operational tips and tricks. For FLX S see below...

    http://support.zero88.com/Consoles/FLX-S/

Raise & Lower hasn't currently got an article, so we will bear this in mind.

the other day I couldn't remember how to record existing playbacks into a cue (hold down record and use snapshot,

You should find that by default SmartTag is enabled. When SmartTag is enabled, you will be able to record cues/playbacks into new cues. To find the SmartTag option, press and hold RECORD to open the Record Options menu -the same menu you can choose Snapshot. You can enable SmartTag so that it has a red stripe next to it, and then tap RECORD to close the window. SmartTag will then stay enabled for future recording and updating until you manually change this setting again. SmartTag may serve you better than Snapshot, as unlike Snapshot it doesn't record everything, only the values required to create the lighting state on stage. This is especially important when it comes to running multiple playbacks at once.

As a side note, a shortcut to the Snapshot function (sometimes called Record All) is by holding SHIFT + tap RECORD.

Hope this helps, any queries let me know.

  2. Hello,

For this, it sounds like you would be best to use the Playback Raise & Lower options. Doing this means that a fade time is applied to the playback fader, not the cue, meaning you can snap the fader up and the lighting state will fade in, and snap the fader down and the lighting state will fade out. To do this hold SETUP and tap your House Light playback's button. Then select the Raise & Lower settings tab. In here you can customise the raise and lower times for the fader, and click OK. I would then advise you remove the intensity fades from the cue.

Hope this helps, any queries let me know.

  3. Hi Mihail,

The option to manually update the coprocessor is not necessary, as this automatically happens as part of the ZerOS 7.9.4 install. This is sometimes necessary when rolling back software.

ZerOS 7.9.4 is very different software to ZerOS 7.8.2.36. Submasters no longer exist, and instead what used to be Submasters, cue stacks and chases are now all referred to as playbacks. You can find out more about these changes here...

    http://support.zero88.com/988876801

This therefore means your show file will have been converted into the new format when you loaded it into the new software. At the point of load in, it will have given you a breakdown of any changes that had to be made, such as Submasters converting to single-cue playbacks.

If you are having trouble with your show file in the new software, please send us an email to support@zero88.com with a copy of the original ZerOS 7.8.2.36 show file. Please then list any issues you have encountered, and we can check the conversion is correct. One of the team will be able to get back to you after New Year.

For future software updates, you will simply be able to load in the executable install file into the console like a show file, rather than having to create a bootable drive.

Hope this helps, any queries let me know.

  4. Hi Mike,

Have you tried tapping the “Beam” tab multiple times? If a fixture has more than 4 parameters within an attribute, tap the attribute tab again to page through. You may find that as this fixture mode has 5 Beam parameters, Prism is on the second page of Beam parameters.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  5. Hi Mac,

If you aren’t finding you have enough control using Fly In, try using a Vertical Line effect alongside a different Intensity effect. You can then tap the EFFECT key to page through the encoders to adjust the parameters of each individual effect.

Alterntatively, when playing back an effect, try using the Speed Override control to adjust the speed of the running effect separately from the size. To do this record your effect to a playback, view that playback (hold VIEW and tap the playback’s button), and then tap Z, and use the second encoder wheel to speed up or slow down the effect. You can also then assign Speed Override to a playback fader, by holding SETUP and tapping an empty playback’s button.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

    Hi Jon,

Are either of these scheduled for the next release?

    Thanks

    Rob

These are not scheduled for the next release. For your reference, these issues have been reviewed, and are now logged on our system as:

    - ZOS-2466: Move on Dark should follow jumps in the Cue Stack

    - ZOS-6983: Individual cue times for Move on Dark

I have added another request on these issues to prioritise them, however they won't be ready for ZerOS 7.9.5.

    All the best,

    Edward

  7. Hello,

It is only software older than ZerOS 7.9.4 that is not compatible with the latest app. This is due to the way ZerOS is now sending image data to the app.

You therefore may have to use one device running the old app for FROG2, and a different device running the new app for other ZerOS consoles.

  8. Hello,

Our main thinking is that if you are moving a fixture, you’re going to be looking at the stage, not the encoders. Therefore it is more beneficial to have the exact raw DMX value on the wheel for finest control so you can see what you’re sending. For a visual representation of colour and position, you have the picker and the grid you can view.

In a future update however, parameters such as position will actually display degrees, which is a much more useful value.

    All the best,

    Edward

  9. Hi Mac,

Glad to hear that it’s working.

We have come across a couple of different touchscreens that report the same information, however require different drivers. Therefore there isn’t a way for ZerOS to determine which is which. If your touchscreen is one of these, a line of text will be displayed suggesting to tap UPDATE if it doesn’t seem to be working. If this line of text isn’t displayed, pressing UPDATE will not do anything.

If you do need to trouble shoot this again in future, take a look in the USB Devices section of System Info like you did, to check ZerOS is detecting the touchscreen.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  10. Hi Both,

I will ensure this feature request is logged. Currently the best way to switch a relay is patch a relay into your console, dial it’s Beamshape parameter to full, and then record to a playback. You can then configure the playback trigger level you would like your relay to switch on at in the playback settings.

(On FLX you can use a UDK set to latch)

  11. Hello,

If you tap SETUP -> System Settings -> External Monitor -> Disabled, tap SETUP to exit Setup, and then tap VIEW, which will toggle the internal touchscreen between faders and cues. You can then access the Output Window internally by holding SHIFT and tapping VIEW.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  12. Hi Mac,

For this select your fixtures, @@, and then apply your desired intensity effect with speed, size and offset. Then record to a new playback, and you can then use this playback fader instead of the master intensity for these fixtures, so that they will have an intensity effect over the top of other parameter playbacks for these fixtures. You will find you can also mix in a little intensity playback for these fixtures, which will make the intensity effect more subtle until the fixture’s intensity is raised to full, and the intensity effect disappears.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  13. Hi Paul,

OK thanks for the information regarding the XLR ports on the console, one of the team will get back to you soon.

If you tap SETUP -> Network Devices does the SmartShow appear in here? What is the hardware setup: FLX S48 via Ethernet cable to TP link switch, then Ethernet cable linking switch to SmartShow gateway?

Are your patched fixtures on universe 1? If so ensure Universe 1 is assigned to Art-Net universe 1.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  14. Hi Mac,

Intensity Effects such as Mark On include intensity data, and therefore when programmed into a playback mix HTP. You therefore may want to consider recording this intensity effect onto a different separate playback fader that you can fade in instead of your intensity master for these fixtures.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  15. Hi Mac,

    Thank you for your comments.

Yes that is true- the colour scheme is dark with white text so printing will use a lot of ink. I will ensure this request has its priority reviewed.

    All the best,

    Edward

  16. Hi Paul,

Firstly, why can’t you use the FLX S48’s DMX XLR ports to connect to the theatre’s lighting equipment?

The subnet mask of the SmartShowNetDMX looks to be the issue. The FLX S48 will generate an IP address starting with either 2. or 10. . You can find out what this IP address is on the console by tapping Z/Shift -> System Information -> Network Overview. If this is something other than 10.168.1.x you’ll need to change the subnet mask on the SmartShowNetDMX to 255.0.0.0.

I would also recommend configuring FLX S48 to transmit Art-Net unicast.

Regarding the Port section of FLX S48 Art-Net settings, each Art-Net sub net can have 16 Ports. You then assign which console universe you wish to be Output on each Art-Net port. On FLX S48 each block of 4 ports is called a Device and will have its own IP address.

Hope this helps, if you have any queries let me know.

    Edward
