  1. Hi Eric, By default when you enable Art-Net on FLX, this will output your 4 (or 8,) DMX universes on Art-Net universes 0 through to 3. This will be output on a 2.x.x.x IP address however can be changed to a 10.x.x.x IP address. Therefore the device you are wishing to control also has to have either a 2.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x IP address, and a subnet of 255.0.0.0. Art-Net gateways vary from different manufacturers. To change their IP address, you can either do it on the unit itself through a user interface, or remotely over the network, by logging in to the device with a browser. There are various Ethernet gateways available, that allow you to convert multiple universes of Art-Net into DMX lines. For example, we have our EtherN.8 8 universe gateway, and EtherN.2 2 universe gateway. Gateways can usually be remotely configured. For example on FLX, if you have an EtherN.8 connected, it will appear in the Network Devices tab of Setup, and allow you to remotely configure which universe is output from each port. In terms of topology, if you just have a single gateway on the network, you can connect with a single Ethernet cable (CAT5e or CAT6 are most common), directly from the FLX to the gateway. If you have other devices on the network, you will need an Ethernet switch that you can plug all your devices into, and it will then do the job of routing information to and from the right ports.   4. Hello, This would be something the fixture would have to manage. Some fixtures have the ability to be told to be dark whilst moving. I believe most Robin fixtures have this functionality, you would have to check in their Function/Control parameter. If they don't, then you will have to insert a cue between 1 and 2 with the fixture off, that allows for Move On Dark to prep them for you. You can then automate cue 2 if you wish, so that it automatically follows on once they are in position. Hope this helps, if you have any queries let me know. Edward

  6. Hi Martin, Yep that's correct. If you update the speed of a playback, each time the playback is triggered it will use this speed. If you choose to define a custom BPM speed for a chase, rather than use tap tempo, then I would recommend disabling tap tempo for that chase. To do this hold SETUP + tap the chase's button, then tap General, and under Button function tap Tap Tempo, so that it has a blue stripe meaning its disabled. This means that the chase will run using the defined BPM under the chase Tab of the settings window, and tapping the chase's button will not effect this. That's correct. A useful shortcut that may help you; if you go into the cue which contains the chase trigger, and then wish to update the base lighting state in the master playback, you will probably want to stop the chase before performing the update. An easy way of doing this is pressing and holding CLEAR, and tapping FADER FUNCT, as this will release all playbacks (and UDKs) except the master playback. You'll then be able to update your base lighting state, and the next time you go into it, the chase will run as normal over the top of your updated lighting state.   8. Hi Sven, Currently there isn’t a way to change fixture defaults on the console. You can however doing this using the Fixture Editor software for PC if you wish. The ability to change fixture Defaults and a new Home button will be coming in ZerOS 7.9.5. One solution would be to set the fixtures in the zoom you’re happy with and record it to a playback. Trigger this playback and don’t release it, and then the Zoom will stay at this value unless you manually change it, or a different playback overwrites it. To record just Zoom to a playback, you will need to press and hold RECORD, and ensure SmartTag is disabled in the Record Options window. ZerOS 7.9.5 won’t support multi cell fixtures.   11. Hello, Probably not I’m afraid. It’s an advance feature that separates the larger consoles from the simpler FLX S consoles. FLX S also doesn’t have the necessary keys on the front panel for entering/leaving Blind. All the best, Edward

  15. Hello, Ah yes, I used to have some of these! Can’t remember what the channel map was. Do you have a manual? I think it is channel 1 dimmer, then RGB, then strobe, then program, in which case when set to DMX address 25, channel 25 will be the dimmer, and then 26>28 will be RGB. Edward
  16. Hello, The Jester 24/48 isn’t designed to control LED equipment, but it is possible. What fixture is it? You will need to know the DMX channel map, in order to know which faders will control which functions, depending on the start address and mode. For example the most basic LED fixture will usually be 4 channels- RGB, plus a dimmer for the fixture that will need to be raised in order to output colour. A method you may wish to use if you have 24 channels of dimming, is patch your first fixture at DMX 25. There is the possibility to patch the faders on the console, which may make your life easier.   18. Hi Matthew, Yes, these are correct. The only one that isn't correct is Backspace is not mapped to the CLEAR button. Backspace simply allows you to go back through your command line to the next comma. This is shown at the bottom of the external monitor or above the encoders when you tap Z/Shift. Hi Martin, Unless you plan on programming the smoke/haze machine into cues, personally I would patch the smoke/haze machine as generic dimmer channels, rather than using a dedicated personality. For most hazers this will be a dimmer channel for Pump and another for Fan. As smoke behaviour varies greatly on many factors such as venue, size of audience, positioning of the machine, what's going on on stage etc, this method gives you 2 faders to control the smoke/haze live, whilst running the lighting cues from your master playback. If you would prefer to use a dedicated fixture profile for a smoke/hazer, you can still control the rate using a fader by recording onto a playback. The simplest way to do this is to set the pump and fan to full, record to a playback, and in the settings of the playback enable Fader Controls Beam, so that the fader scales the rate of haze. The Pump and Fan controls can be accessed by selecting the fixture, and tapping the Beam tab. The control parameters will then be controlled using the encoders. Hope this helps, Edward

  22. Hi Martin, There is no way to change the size of these channel names. You may find that viewing the MFF Window is more helpful. You can view this on the external monitor when enabled, by tapping VIEW. To enable the external monitor tap SETUP -> System Settings -> External Monitor -> Enabled. When the faders are in channels function, this window will show you the name of each channel fader, along with a level indicator. Alternatively you can view the MFF window on the internal touchscreen. If you have for example the first 6 channels all named the same, the name will be displayed once above the channels making it clearer, rather than repeated for each fixture.   23. Hi Nigel, Unfortunately, cues cannot reference other cues. Therefore in your situation you will have to update each individual cue that used your playback you need to update. An option that you might find easier in your situation, is to instead of recording and updating data into cues in your Master playback, simply add trigger and release macros in to recall your playback that you regularly use. To do this go into the settings of a cue in your master playback, tap Macros... -> Trigger Cue Stacks -> tap the button of the playback you wish to trigger. The way to reference cue intensity values to a single location is by using Intensity Groups. Groups will always record intensity information present on the selected fixtures at the point of recording. If you then tap a programmed group once, the fixtures will select normally as expected. If however you double tap a group, the fixtures will be selected, and any intensity information will be recalled. If no intensity data was present at the point of recording, fixtures will be taken to full when double tapping. This allows you to double tap a group to turn them on to your predefined levels, exactly like you would for colour, beam and position palettes. You can then record this into your cues, and they will all reference the intensity levels in the group. You can therefore update all of these cues easily by double tapping the group, adjusting the intensity levels, and then tap UPDATE and tap the group.
