Especially the time when the console restarts, there is no control over the machines that suddenly blink and move in all directions which is not the best if there must be an audience in the room of show ...Really sorry to hear this. When the console rebooted, was there a message presented asking to save a debug file? It sounded like the console completely froze. If this happens, power cycling is the only way of clearing the issue.

Hello,
A .cft file is basically the format of the Fat Frog's fixture library. Using the Common Fixture Manager, you can add in a maximum of 20 fixtures from the fixture library download (.ift), to create your own library, and then export to floppy disk as a .cft file.
You can then also save .ift fixture files onto a floppy disk, extracted from the main library, in order to load extras in. After a clear to defaults however, these will be removed, leaving only the files contained in the .cft file.

If you wish to use the Effects engine on your Sunstrips, I would recommend patching each individual lamp as a dimmer. You’ll therefore have 10 dimmer channels patched for each Sunstrip. This will allow you to select all of them together, apply an effect, offset it, and it will run across the lamps in the Sunstrip. You can then record groups on the console if you wish to control a Sunstrip as a single fixture.

You are correct, if you roll back software versions, firmware versions will not necessarily automatically be rolled back.
If you would like to roll back to ZerOS 7.9.3 with the older firmware, you will have to update the software from a USB stick formatted as a bootable drive. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the ZerOS 7.9.3 release notes, available with the software here...

This information can be found in the "Consoles running ZerOS 7.8.2.39 or older" software update instructions.
When you have formatted the USB drive, plug into the console, and switch it on, you will be taken to a screen with "Install ZerOS 7.9.3", or "Advanced", if you choose advanced, you will have the option to manually roll back the firmware.
When you have done this and installed the software, it would be interesting to know if this solves this issue.

From a control point of view then, as long as the dimmer channel isn't dimmed, and is patched as a relay this should work, however I couldn't guarantee how happy the fogger would be receiving a "messy" AC sine wave, and how happy that dimmer would be "switching" a not entirely resistive load. To know how it would cope you would need to know the fogger's power factor, however this doesn't seem to be quoted in the manual.

Yes a software update will be required.
After installing the new software, I would recommend you leave plenty of time to get used to the console before a live show. ZerOS 7.8.1 is quite out of date, and so there are some quite big changes in the new software. These are detailed here...

Hi Tim,
If you run an Effect with a "Fan V" offset across an even number of fixtures, the console will automatically know that the middle pair should do the same effect.
To configure a Fan V fan mode, hold SETUP and tap the EFFECT button. Then hold SHIFT and choose "Fan V" from the options, release SHIFT, and click OK. Then select your fixtures, apply the effect you would like, and then hold SHIFT and dial the offset wheel.

Hi Petr,
What software are you running on your ORB XF? You can find out by tapping "Other Windows", top left of the Output Window, and from the drop down choose System Information. Under the Desk Info tab will be a line displaying "Software Version". ZerOS 7.9.4 is the latest release software for ORB XF.
The latest ZerOS Remote App version, as displayed in the app "About" page, is v4.2.7.14 for iOS. This is known to be compatible with ZerOS 7.9.4.

Hello,
I'd echo what Kevin says, it's never a good idea to plug non-dimmable loads into a dimmer, even if you want to have the channel at full. Not only is there always the chance it could accidentally be dimmed and potentially damage the device and the dimmer, but the device may not like the messy AC sine wave you get from the output of a dimmer channel.
At your own risk, there is however a "Relay" fixture file under the "Generic" manufacturer. Again, as Kevin says this will simply switch the fog machine on and off - this will not turn the fog output on and off, which is often done with a wired remote on non-DMX smoke machines.

Did you save the debug file? If so please send this to support@zero88.com with a description of the crash, and one of the team will be able to take a look at the file to see what went wrong.
Can you confirm the software version of your FLX S? You can find this by tapping Z/Shift -> System Information, and in here is a line displaying Software Version. The latest is ZerOS 7.9.4.3.
Did you do anything in particular that seemed to cause the issue, or did it seem to randomly crash?

Just to clarify, I presume...

What DMX splitters are you using? What DMX tester did you use? What are the make and model of the fixtures that are causing issues? What other fixtures are on the same DMX line that are behaving correctly? When did the issue seem to start, what changed in the system?

How are you recording cues using ZerOS Remote Monitor for Windows? There is no hot key mapped for RECORD?
When RECORD has been pressed on the console, you can however choose a playback to store onto using the Faders window.
If the faders window isn't open on the ZerOS Remote Monitor, ensure that the console has External Monitor Enabled (tap SETUP -> System Settings -> External Monitor -> Enabled), and tap VIEW. When this is displayed you can tap RECORD, and tap a virtual playback to store onto.
You can also type a defined cue number, before choosing the playback to store onto.

This is currently not a feature of ZerOS Remote Monitor, however we could look to implement this.
You should however find that the consoles automatically appear in the list?
You should also find that when connecting to a console manually you don't need to enter a name - this is purely for reference. An IP address and password is required.

That's correct.
The base FLX has 4 universes of DMX output, therefore 2 of these DMX universes could be from the XLR connectors, and the other universes could be transmitted using Art-Net over an Ethernet network.

Thank you for your clarification. Apologies, it appears that this information in the manual is incorrect as per ZerOS 7.9.4 (which is the current release software for FLX S). To instead allow your cues to run automatically using the cue timings you defined, you'll need to revert the playback from a chase back to a normal cue stack. This can be done from the playback settings, under the Chase tab. When you have done this, you can then go into the cue settings for each cue within the playback, and configure automatic timings.

Hi Jeroen,
A good solution for this would be to allow the fader to control the colour transition. To do this, go into the settings of your second playback. To do this hold SETUP and tap the playback’s button. Then, under Fader Controls, select Colour, so it has a red stripe next to it. Then click OK, and you’ll now find that raising this fader scales colour into the recorded value. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate your reluctance to use beta software on live shows. It is worth mentioning that show files are always designed to be forwards compatible including in beta software, and when loading into older software versions, you will be notified if anything couldn’t be loaded.

Yes it is possible to connect ENTTEC wings over a network, however not ZerOS Wings via USB as these require a later version of ZerOS.
ENTTEC Wings can be configured in Setup, under the Wings section. You will need to ensure the console has an IP address in the same range as any Wings you wish to connect with.
