  1. Hi Chris,

There a couple of known issues with the wizard. I would therefore recommend creating the fixtures outside of the wizard.

From opening the Fixture Editor, choose "Create a New Fixture Type" (or just press ENTER), rather than choose "use wizard". Then double click on "Manufacturers" from the left hand side, and type your manufacturer in. Then right click under "Fixture Type", and choose "Add Fixture Type". You can then give it a name (which is used by Frogs and Jesters), and then a long name which is used by ZerOS. Fixture modes can be separated by "fixture name : mode name" (space colon space). Then go to the parameters tab from the top, right click, Add Parameter, and add each parameter in one by one.

You don't have to put Special details in, however I would recommend doing so for Dimmer, Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Zoom, Focus, Pan, Tilt. For White, ZerOS name matches the parameter "White", and can then use this parameter for colour mixing.

Thanks Kevin 🙄 😆. Actually I believe the software was made by one of ZerOS software engineers, however many moons ago, and sadly updating this software is very low priority, especially as we'd like to build it into ZerOS in future.

I like having the Windows utility where I can do show-prep offline.

You would still be able to do this, however using Phantom.

The first reboot failed and the second did produce an error message which I will forward tonight.

Please email us a copy of this message to support@zero88.com.

We will then be able to investigate this to see what the cause may be.

  3. Hello,

Reset Desk will not remove custom fixture files. That is why under SETUP -> Clear Options, there is also a Clear Fixture Files button. A Factory Reset however, will remove custom fixture files.

would the recommended way of moving the desk between rooms be to delete fixtures, playbacks and palettes etc but not to reset the desk so the custom fixture files stay on there?

I'd therefore recommend resetting the desk, not factory resetting, to allow you to still access the custom fixture files that are currently in the console.

If possible, it is a good idea to collate all custom fixture files into a single fixture file, as a backup for if you need to perform a factory reset or software update.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

Is there a way to set a default colour for these so when programming I only need to set a colour when they are not white?

Yes, as @kgallen mentions, this is done by setting all fixtures to the values you wish them to default to, and then tap RECORD, followed by tapping the Home icon. To do this you will need to record the fixtures in their colour, however at 0% intensity. To do this you will need to disable SmartTag within the Record Options. For more information, see below...

  5. Hi Kay,

What you are after is a "hue" channel, allowing you to cycle through the hues you want using a single parameter. Unfortunately unless there is a macro/hue channel on the fixture, there wouldn't be a way of creating a hue parameter for you to then record on the console.

What you could do is record a rainbow effect for your fixtures on one playback, and then set up a speed override on another playback. You could then run the rainbow effect, and the various colours would start to cycle, and you can then bring your speed override fader down to stop the effect when you get to the colour you're after. Remember speed override will affect the currently viewed playback.

You could then record a separate intensity fader, and enable fader controls colour on the rainbow playback, giving you intensity on one fader, saturation from the rainbow effect playback, and then use the speed override fader to choose the hue.

If you have any questions let me know.

I have noticed that when you go on the DMX outputs page that the DMX values do change when there are no cues or chasers going on

It sounds like there may be an issue with the faders. I would recommend dropping us an email to support@zero88.com, and we'll be able to advise on repair.

For a live-show I want to change the colors just by moving one fader up/down, cycling through some rainbow-colors.

Some LED fixtures have a colour macro parameter that allows you to do exactly this, I'm guessing your fixtures don' have this?

    11 hours ago, Kay said:

No need to change brightness, just assume 100%.

Could you simply select these fixtures, and then use the colour picker live?

it's not always possible to get what you want, using different playback with the same fixtures involved in...

    43 minutes ago, kgallen said:

You're experiencing "Latest Takes Precedence" behaviour plus you're recording your other memories with too much information.

As Kevin and Thierry say, if you have 2 playbacks which have information for the same fixture, whichever you raise most recently controls the fixture, due to Colour, Beam and Position in playbacks mixing Latest Takes Precedence.

As Kevin mentions, for better mixing, don't record whole lighting states on playbacks. Instead of having 2 colour scenes on faders, have lots of single colour scenes you can mix between. As well as achieving better mixing, this also gives you added flexibility of the lighting states you can create.

  10. Hi Eric,

    No problem.

Unfortunately it does not work better.

It sounds like the fixture's manual is therefore incorrect, if you have tried the replacement fixtures and are still experiencing difficulty.

You can change the RGBW defaults to 0 if you wish, to avoid the fixture coming on despite the dimmer being down.

overall I can not operate in manual mode with 1 fader per channel.

Because with 10 projectors, in 6ch mode, I would need 60 fader.

This is purely for testing purposes, so you can work out what the channels do.

57 minutes ago, van den abbeele Eric said:

on FLX as on Jester 24/48:

    Fader 1 = ch 1 Zoom 50%
    Fader 2 = ch 2 Red 0%
    Fader 3 = Ch 3 Green 0%
    Fader 4 = Ch 4 Blue 0%
    Fader 5 = Ch 5 White 0%
    Fader 6 = Dimmer level (8 Bit-16bit) 0%

In this case, everything is fine.

    This matches the fixture file.

12 minutes ago, van den abbeele Eric said:

I realize that this Level dimmer mode also plays on fade speed depending on where the value is. And depending on where you put the value or everything hangs.

When you find this information, we will be able to modify the fixture file, and send it back to you. It sounds like the "Dimmer" parameter is more like a shutter.

If you have any questions let us know.

So, to understand the problem of sossy: my default setup (after resetting) is 3 sec. for "Fade up" and "Position", so the phenomenon of sossy will not show up at my console? Unless I choose to use different times. Correct?

The default fades for Intensity, Colour and Position are 3 seconds. However, the first cue in a playback will always default to a 0 second fade on intensity. This therefore gives you control of the intensity using the fader, rather than a fade automatically running. Therefore when @sossy stored this effect as a single cue on a playback, intensity was 0 seconds and position was 3, so they became out of sync. He could therefore dial out the fade time for position in that playback, or he could have changed the position defaults before storing.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward

  13. Hi Kay,

    6 minutes ago, Kay said:

Maybe a good idea for the next version of FlexOS, to store intensity and position fade time the same while recording to a playback. Will maybe avoid some confusion of the user if he found a great effect/setting, and after recording this looks different.

To change the fade time defaults, tap SETUP -> Defaults -> Cue Fades.

You can then set them to be the same if you wish.

No problem, as you can see on the Legacy area on the ZerOS page there are versions still available from the past few years if you do wish to roll back.

I've just read the user guide, which doesn't mention FLX or ZeroS in the list of applications, but I presume it's ok

Yes, the fixture tools software was written before FLX range consoles were launched, however files made in this software are compatible with FLX range consoles.

If you have any questions regarding creating fixtures, or would like us to write any files for you, send us an email to FixtureSupport@zero88.com.

is it possible on FLX S24 or S42 to name playback channels individually ?

if there is a possibility to do that i would be happy if you let me know

Yes, both playbacks and channels can be named, and their names can then been viewed in the faders window.

To name playbacks, press and hold SETUP and tap the playback's button to open the Playback Settings. Then tap Advanced, and tap playback name to give it a name. You can either use the onscreen keyboard or an external USB keyboard. A shortcut to access the playback settings, is to view the faders window on the touchscreen, and then press the on-screen fader.

To name a channel, press SETUP, and then tap the channel button you wish to name. You can then tap Change Names to give it a name. You can select multiple channels at once if you wish, and change all of their names at the same time.

    Hope this helps,

    Edward
