Solution - Solution XL VS FLX - FLX S 48
Edward Z88 replied to van den abbeele Eric's topic in General Discussion
Hi Eric, Really glad you're loving FLX! In response to your comments... -We are planning on improving the Effects engine in the next software update, which bring more useful auto effects. Don't forget to quickly get chases you can use an intensity effect, and use one of the quick offset buttons found along the top of the Effects window. -We are indeed seeing more fixtures using Amber, UV, Lime, Indigo etc. Therefore we are still looking into the best and most accurate way to implement this into the ZerOS colour mixing engine. -Regarding the external monitor, in case you didn't know the shortcut to quickly change the external monitor to your Palettes desktop is SHIFT + VIEW. A single tap of VIEW will then take you back to your Programming desktop. Any queries let me know. Edward -
Hello, Please try re-installing ZerOS 7.9.4. You can do that by downloading and then extracting the software from our website... Then run the ZerOS 7.9.4 OS Creator USB software on preferably a Windows 7 PC, which will then prompt you to format a USB stick. Complete the Wizard, and then plug the USB port into the console and boot. If this doesn’t work, please email Keith as Ian suggested, or email support@zero88.com. Depending on the situation, the console may need to be sent for repair. Any queries let me know. Edward

Hello, In terms of updating straight to ZerOS 7.9.4, you shouldn't run into any problems. However as Ian mentions, you'll probably want to check with everyone who operates the console first, as there are some big operational changes and improvements. The video below talks through these changes... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjnbGuTHbFA&t= Hope that helps, any queries let me know. Edward

Hi Skippa, No, unfortunately these devices aren’t compatible with FLX S over USB, and there is no MIDI input. Our Solution consoles do except MIDI Notes input. Edward

Hi Peter, To stop a playback triggering and going to cue 1 when you push its fader up, in the Playback Settings go to Raise & Lower, and disable Trigger on Raise. Similarly, to stop the playback releasing and resetting back to cue 1 when you lower the fader, disable Release on Lower. If you then need to manually release the playback, hold CLEAR and tap its button. Hope that helps Edward
-
Hello I haven’t seen this before. What software version are you running? Edward
-
Hi Pete, Yes Kevin’s correct. Each Playback has its own configurations available. To enter a Playback’s Settings, hold SETUP + tap your playback’s button. In here you have Intensity Mixing and Fader function options. Hope that helps, Edward

Hi Peter, Hope you're well. Firstly, make sure you're viewing your cue stack on the Master Playback. You can do this by holding VIEW and tapping the Master Playback's GO button. Then, tap the Settings button on the far right of cue 3. Then tap Macros... -> Trigger Cue Stacks ->, and tap the flashing playback button of your pre-programmed chase. Press OK on the Macros window, and OK the Settings window. Now, when you go into cue 3 on the Master Playback, you chase will fade in using cue 3's fade up time. If you then want your chase to fade out when you go into cue 4, you'll need to go into the settings of cue 4, tap Macros... -> Release Cue Stacks -> and again tap your chase's button. Click ok again, and now when you go into cue 4, your chase will fade out over the fade down time of the cue. Hope that helps, any queries let me know. Edward

Hello, Firstly, your best bet is to check the dimmers. Are they switched on? If so, what do the LCDs display? If they display “DMX Patched”, then they are receiving DMX data. If they are receiving “No Data”, there’s no DMX input. Unfortunately you also can’t guarantee the port labelled “DMX 2” is for dimmer unit 2. This may instead be the building’s second DMX cabling input, which goes to a DMX patch panel somewhere. More likely than each dimmer having its own input port, they’ll likely be daisy chained, meaning DMX will go into the first dimmer, and then out into the second. If both dimmers are receiving data, turn the Solution on, and ensure the Grand Master, A Master, and B Master faders are all at full. Note that the B Master fader is in fact inverted, so this will need to be at the bottom of its travel to be at full output. Now, use the channel faders labelled Preset A and B. These should simply control each individual lantern plugged into each channel of the dimmers. Let us know how you get on with this, feel free to give me a call when you’re using the system, and we can talk through and hopefully get you up and running. You can call me on 07976 791850. Edward

Hi Nico, Yes there is. To Copy a cue, tap the Copy button found under the Z key, then type the cue number you want to copy, tap the Playback’s button that contains this cue, then tap the playback’s button you’d like this cue copied to. For example, Copy -> 1 -> Master Playback -> Playback 1 copies cue 1 from the Master to Playback 1. Chases can be copied to another playback simply by repeating the above process, but with no need to type a cue number first. Alternatively, you can simply re-record your cue. To do this Output the cue by going into it, then tap RECORD, and tap the playback you wish this to be recorded to. For this to work, you’ll need to ensure SmartTag is enabled, as it is by default. To check this, press and hold RECORD, and ensure SmartTag has a red stripe next to it. Hope that helps, any queries let me know. Edward

Hi Eric, You cannot change the Art Net IP address of FLX. This is a static IP, which can be found under Z -> System Information -> Network Overview when Art Net is transmitting. However is there any particular reason you wish to use Art Net, rather than CITP (Capture's visualisation stream)? In the article I sent a link to, we use Art Net, however you may find if you have created your own stage CITP would be better, as this allows you to see fixture selection, and also allows you to control the console's programmer from Capture itself. For this, disable Art Net, and go to SETUP -> Visualisation -> Capture -> Enabled. Then ensure the IP is within range of your computer running Capture. For example if your computer is configured to 192.168.1.189, you could use 192.168.1.100 on FLX - make sure DHCP is disabled on FLX, as if you are connecting directly from the computer to FLX there will be no DHCP server. Hope that helps, any queries let me know. Edward

Hello, Looking at the fixture file attached, this is going to appear under the manufacturer of "PUMP HOUSE". After loading in, you shouldn't need to restart the console. When going to Add Fixtures does the manufacturer "PUMP HOUSE" appear? Edward
-
Hi Skippa, This is a possibility, but not something we’re looking at implementing soon. Our Fixture Software available for PC allows you to make your own fixtures, and then adding them in is simply done using USB storage. Fixture Library 36 to be released in a few month’s time will bring the fixture count to over 8,000, and in a future update the fixture library will be improved, greatly increasing this. Any queries let us know. Edward

Hello, As Kevin explains this should be as simple as recording your UDK, and entering it’s settings. What settings do you see at the moment when pressing and holding SETUP and tapping your UDK? Edward
-
Hi Tessa, This is down to tagging. In the record options menu, ensuring Colour, Beam and Position have a Blue stripe next to them will ensure this isn’t recorded. Alternatively, make sure that no parameters other than intensity are tagged. A tagged parameter is displayed as a light blue background in the encoder display. You can tap this display to manually untag the parameter. You may find the article below is a useful read... http://support.zero88.com/1014189311 Hope that helps Edward

Hello, As this is an old topic, the above is probably no longer applicable to the current version of Solution’s software, ZerOS 7.9.4. ZerOS 7.9.4 is available to download here... http://zero88.com/forum/files/file/17-zeros-794/ For advice on chases in this software, take a look at the video below... Hope that helps, any queries let me know. Edward

Hi Zeus, We have seen this a couple of times on FLX S and it is not hardware- it’s software. This has already been solved in our internal beta software, so you should find ZerOS 7.9.5 to be released later this year solves the issue. Any queries let us know. Edward
-
Hi Zeus, If you are seeing previous playback colours being “overwritten” with the latest used Playback, it sounds like Release on Lower is disabled for the Playback. To change this go into the Playback settings by holding SETUP and tapping the playbacks button, tap Raise and Lower-> Release on Lower -> Enabled. I you then want to be able to cross fade from playback to playback, your best option will be to enable fader controls colour for these playbacks. Again go into the Playbacks settings, and tap Colour under fader controls. As Kevin also suggests, you need to be aware of something called SmartTag if recording a fixture with 0% intensity- SmartTag needs to be disabled to allow you to do this. This can be done by pressing and holding RECORD, and tapping SmartTag so that it doesn’t have a red stripe next to it, or by holding SHIFT and tapping RECORD, to do a record all or snapshot of the current lighting state. Hope that helps, any queries let us know. Edward

Hi Eric, Firstly just to confirm, FLX consoles should not be connected to the internet- FLX networks should be dedicated. To connect Capture to FLX, you’ll need a straight Ethernet cable to connect the console to your computer, and you’ll need to enable Capture in the Setup of FLX, and assign a static IP in the same range as your Ethernet IP on the laptop. Therefore this could be one on 192.168.1.1, the other on 192.168.1.2, both with subnets of 255.255.255.0. You should find Capture detects FLX, and they start talking. In System Information where you saw there was no DHCP server, check Capture is transmitting. If it isn’t, check your settings, and try disabling and enabling Capture output from FLX. For connecting Capture on Windows to FLX, take a look at the article below... http://support.zero88.com/1004254221 Any queries let me know. Edward

Hello, As soon as the Clear button is pressed first the selection will be cleared, and if pressed a second time the Programmer will immediately start to fade out using the Programmer Time - this includes fixture intensities and any other parameters. These can be seen fading in the Output Window (SHIFT + VIEW to quickly view this). Hope that helps Edward
-
Hi Paul, We’re not aware of any problems related to this. If programmer data is cleared by pressing the clear button, the LED will go out straight away. The only time this will be delayed is if Programmer Time is enabled (found on the last encoder in the Z key)- in which case the LED will go off after the Programmer Time has completed. Is this what you’re experiencing? Edward

Hi Daniel, Playbacks triggered from cues will always trigger at their full recorded value, ignoring fader level. If you need this to trigger at a lower level, you can update the steps of your chase in Playback 1, by holding SHIFT+ tap it’s playback button to snap into the step and make the edits. Tap UPDATE and it’s button to save. Hope that helps, Edward

Hi Ted, This can be done on FLX in the Waveforms section of Effects. With your fixtures selected, using wave forms you can apply different functions to each parameter, and then define a Speed, Size and Offset for each. We are looking at implementing quick effects in a future software update, so you can very quickly achieve Random Flickers for example. Edward

Hello, Please send your request to FixtureSupport@zero88.com, with a link to the fixture's manual, and one of the team will be able to make it for you. Edward

Hi Eric, That is correct, we are going to adjust the auto select sensitivity. The buttons are used to select the fixture, so that you can control it further. Therefore if you wish to turn this setting off, all you’ll have to do is manually select the fixture you wish to control further- you don’t need to press the button before moving the fader. If fixtures seemed to be randomly turning on, can you remember what colour the fixtures intensity was displayed as in the Output Window? This will help to determine why that might be happening- such as an auto cue for example. Edward
