Or use palettes to access the strobing? You can lock the palettes onto the flash keys by holding F1 and pressing Beamshape.
-
Go into Super user, choose Lock, enter the lock code, chose Lock Desk. To unlock, repeat the above. When the desk is locked, any record/edit/delete action will result in a popup instead of the action being performed. You can still run memories & subs as normal.
-
I would recommend copying either Sub1 or Sub25 to the same page temporarily, then recording the outputting state and deleting the copied sub.How does that sound?
-
If you want a moving lights only desk, a good route to go down would be the Leap Frog 48 or the Frog 2. Both of these are capable of outputting 4 universes of DMX (the Frog 2 has 4 physical 5pin outputs, the Leap Frog has only 2, but can output 4 over ethernet.) The Leap Frog can patch upto 200 fixtures and works in a very similar way to the mambo frog. The Frog 2 is a command line based desk, which can sometimes be quicker for programming large numbers of moving lights as you talk about. Where are you based? Perhaps it would be good to get a demo of both desks and then you can decide which is best for yourself.
-
Which features of the Mambo Frog in particular are you looking to use? Why are you looking to change desk? This will help us make a recommendation to you.

Think of a Submaster as a scene on a fader. When you bring the fader up, that scene is played back. The Submasters (and Memories) have no bearing on what fixtures are currently selected - they replay whichever channels are stored on them. So yes, if you want to use Submasters, you do need two - one for the Entours in Red, another for the Wash's in Red. I hope this clears things up.
-
The process for selecting a Submaster for live adjustment is 3 steps, not two... 1) Press F3 2) Press Submasters 3) Press the Submaster flash Button If you're missing Step 2 then I don't think it'll work
-
If you switch the faders into "HTP Mix" mode in Setup/Desk Setup/Behaviour/Preset Mix Mode, you will find that they stay on even when the programmer is cleared The only thing to watch in HTP mix mode is the fact that you can't "grab" a level to bring it down, and instead must either use command syntax or selecting the channels to edit their levels (set the Flash Mode to "Off/Select" and press the preset flash button to select the channel, then use the fixture wheels to adjust the dimmer). I generally leave my preset faders in LTP Mix mode for programming, but switch to HTP Mix during playback as this means I can manually add channels without activating the programmer (and hence the Clear LED) We are expanding the ethernet options immensely in the next release of software, and I imagine that manual IP address settings will become part of this update. I hope this is of help to you.

After talking to Kevin during the weekend, it appears that this problem is related to the use of Smart Tags. With Smart Tags enabled, the desk will record the *changes* required to get to the current values - in a cue stack scenario, this works brilliantly. When programming a Sub, Smart Tags should record all non-default values - I think the problem is occuring because internally the default value for intensity is full (255 or 65535) rather than 0, so the desk is seeing a 100% as a default value and therefore not storing it onto the UDF/UDK. Setting the channel to 99% works, because this is a non-default value.
-
1) Did you do the full CD update to 4.2.0, including the Co. Processor and LCD updates? 2) Do you have a show file with these problem UDFs and UDKs? If you view them (VIEW <UDF/K>) is the channel data there? 3) Are you recording with Smart Tag enabled or disabled?
-
Perhaps if we added something so that you could enter VIEW STACK n ENTER brings up a cue stack window for that particular cue stack, locked to that stack (doesnt change if you press the Select button for another stack) - would that be what you're after?
-
Hi Andy Do you have a speed set on the chase? or are you manually overriding it using the speed pot? Do you have a show file you could email me, with the problem submaster? pkirkup@zero88.com Also, what software version are you running - this could help us find out if this is an old bug which may have been fixed in a later version. Thanks
-
As a first step, have you installed the software from a bootable USB (using the full install file) or just an update (using a UPD file and the option in Desk Setup). Whilst there shouldn't be any major difference between the two, we've had a couple of reports of problems following the first method. I'd be good to know if you've also updated via UPD file or whether you did a full install. We do completely recommend that the LeapFrogs are operated with a monitor at all times, as there may have been additional information displaying there, which could lead us to working out what is going on. We've also seen some desks misbehaving when booting with a USB stick attached, so please try removing the USB stick and booting without. If you have any debug.dat files created by the desk, please email these to pkirkup@zero88.com and I can get them looked at as soon as possible - this will help us work out what is going on. Sorry I wasn't around to give you any tips yesterday, Bob... I do hope the show went okay. Peter

Touring With Fat Frog & Macs - Focus Points?
Kirkup_xp replied to colinking's topic in Frog Range MK1
What you're talking about is Palettes. You can store Position, Colour and Beamshape palettes (upto 48 in version 10.8), to make touring easy. What you need to do is every time you want to use a new position, instead of just storing the cue, store a position palette with the new position in it, then reference the Position Palette in the cue. To store a palette, hold down the attribute required and hold down a channel flash button until the LED comes on. To reference the palette, tap the channel flash button with the attribute button held down. Now record the cue as normal. Then, when you replay the cue, the desk will go off and look up the palette reference for the position. Now, when you move to a new venue, simply overwrite the position with the new position data (same way - hold down the attribute and channel flash button, then choose {Prm}) and voila all your cues will have updated I hope this helps. -
The easiest way is to use the "Beat" function (set the chase drive to Bass+Manual both lit) then tap along to the beat of the music... then try and tap between each beat as well and hey presto, double speed
-
What you need to do is program a chase at double the speed you require, with each beat having an 'on' and an 'off' state, set to the required duration and rate set to minimum (the change in the chase from on to off triggers the flash, rather than the internal rate) Alternatively, experiment with the various attack options - if you run the chase from one strobe to another, the Fast Attack Slow Decay option ( |\ ) will give you a snap to full (giving a flash) followed by a fade to black. Unfortunately strobes are always a pain to get to flash in time to the music... I generally prefer to do it manually with a submaster
-
It sounds like it could be a DMX problem, rather than a desk problem. Check that there is a terminator in your DMX circuit and that the circuit is made up with DMX (data) cables rather than microphone cables.
-
Please email or call Keith (KWR88) with your desk serial number and a description of the fault - he should be able to help
-
This is due to the fact that quite a lot of people use the Fat Frog as a programming tool for the Frog Box - they can set up their cue stack using SMPTE timecode references, then load it into a Frog Box to playback to timecode. Hope this clears things up.
-
Hi John The Fat Frog itself does not support SMPTE timecode. There is an optional upgrade card available which adds SMPTE, MIDI & ChilliNet capabilities to the Frog range but this must be fitted to a Leap Frog or above - the Fat Frog does not support it. If you have a Leap/Bull/Mambo Frog, or a Frog Box, then any SMPTE source should work fine - just remember to set the Frame Rate in Super User. I hope this helps

Zero 88 are proud to announce that we have now moved our forums to new software. This software should mean more features and more efficient membership signup mechanisms to improve your browsing experience. As with all things software, there may a couple of bugs to iron out - if you do notice anything untoward, please post it in the Forum Issues forum on the home page. Enjoy the new software

Version 10.8 does provide fully functional tracking capabilities and its true that some users have found the software a little difficult to use. We have made version 10.4 available to users should they wish to downgrade, due to the feedback received on version 10.8. We are aware of the comments received and will address them in any future software releases for the range. Please don't let this discourage you from using version 10.8 on your shows - with a bit of time to learn the software changes, the desk becomes much more powerful. If you have any questions or queries on the tracking functionality. please feel free to post them here and we'll do our best to help you out. When using tracking, please remember: -You are programming the *changes* to each memory, not the whole scene - this relies on "tags" which can be displayed using the WHEEL GROUP button in the Output Window. -If no value has been programmed for a parameter, it will track from memory -- (0) - therefore, it will be at its default value until told otherwise. This will be optional in the next release, as will Tracking itself (Frog Reference 5586). -If you replay a submaster, it loads the tag states from that submaster. In the next release this will be configurable, so that it can be disabled or be set to "add" mode where submasters will be able to add onto the state on stage, to aid building looks using submasters (Frog Reference 5583). -Lowering the Grand Master or pressing Blackout doesn't set the tags to record a blackout - this will be fixed in the next release. For now, you must manually tag each channel at 0 (Frog Reference 5587).

Hi Kresten Please upgrade your desk to 1.37, version 1.36 had a couple of crash bugs in it which we've fixed in version 1.37. I'll investigate your Deleting chase steps problems next week, as i've not seen or heard of this before. Please check that your Slave 1 firmware is up to date on the desk (this can be seen by going to Setup/Files/Desk Information - if the version on Slave 1 is out of date, it will be displayed in red, otherwise it'll be black, in which case it is up to date. If the firmware is out of date, press and hold SHIFT and press CLEAR to enter the Slave Processor update screen - select Slave 1 and follow the on-sceren instructions. Thanks for your bug reports - keep them coming

Hi Oliver With your fixtures selected, select "Position" and keep pressing it until on the wheel LCD you see "Effect" "Size X" and "Size Y". Dial in an effect (Ellipse, Fig 8, Quad or Triangle) and give it a size. Press Position again and you will see Speed, Offset and Rotation. Give the effect a speed and your lights will start to move. Select half of the fixtures and set a 50% offset, and you'll have half of them doing the effect at point 0 whilst the others are doing it at point 180. If you want the lights to oppose each other, set the same offset but a negative speed. These parameters can be recorded into a palette, chase, memory or submaster just like any other moving light parameter. I hope this helps.
