Hurrah issue resolved but still curious. There were 4 beta packs daisy chained together. By disconnecting them all annd just using the new cable it worked. Plugging just one of the old cables down stream and it didn't. Having an old one upstream and new one down stream and it worked. You probably have to have a PHd in impedance to work it out. Now have made completely new daisy chain all working just fine. Indeed still rather curious..... Thanks for your help. Des

I have rechecked every connection each soldered joint each is going to the right pin.No short circuits Its a mystery

Yes the cable is from RS The cable is short 3.5 m I have checked pins with multimeter Pin1 connected to screen Pin2 red Pin3 black We don't have DMX Terminator how important is this? Des

How come we use old burglar alarm cable with a 5 pin xlr plugs and they work just fine then buy your best vandamme cable 268-401 and it wont work? Level 24 desk connected to beta pack 2 dimmers Des George
