  1. well actual i used an ETC expression3 for a few schools, that desks cost £11 000. last time i checked! I believe that a bull frog was used on a major tour, "the corrs". + i would consider using it. for 1 main reason. the position pallets. as on most tours you cant fly your rig @ the same height. so you have to go through each memory and refocus on most desk...but your desk just redo the pallets and your away... + if you had a pallet lock + focus subs the three features i find most anoying on the frog, is: *not b-ing able to lock pallets.(we can lock the screen, isn't logical we would want to lock the pallets's) * not being able to control the chase speed live, + not bein able to start it from step 1 on a sub. (could hit flash button to start it on 1) *not being able to save movement shapes to a pallet individual parameters just on beam shapes...PLEASE.....i have had some experence with dsp.....+ i know that it can be complicated to do....but please consider it for some time in the future.... i'm sur that you would agree with me that it would give loads more flexibility in the live situation... This has nothing to do with the frog..but you guys came closest then any other company to creating a combined live/theatrical lx desk (sirus 500/250)...with loads of fantastic features..... i dont understand why you didn't make a sirus 1500..... maybe thats something u should consider for the future? give it more subs..2 dmx uni's, the F.R.O.G , fans and pallets................................... =
  2. The desk is not aimed at top end users. so why do you call the bull frog a "high spec desk"? and "designed to appeal to all levels of users" = well u've just told us "The desk is not aimed at top end users" false advertising!!! 8O "rapid programming of moving lights" thats just so funny. "pallets can also be used to give flexibility in live playback" = suppose thats true as long as you have long arms, and a third arm! if only there was a pallet lock or subfocus pallets....that statment would be true + nz "Still to complex and I am still not convinced. Yes there are benefits but it is still not going to happen. " so wats this..... Partial Recording by Parameter (Channel) - Frog Reference No 5402 - To be developed for the next updates package. nz how do you cope with this support form. it has lots of function on it. would u prefer it if we sent you a handwritten letter!
  3. just for nz, here are a few things i like about the desk...... nice faders. quick programming of generics the way the desk deals with wide...very clever the jump function the fact it hasn't got fan's in it making a lot of noise the big blue go button... the encoder wheels Strange it looks like i like everything which is generic.. but have come up with a new suggestion (what a shock nz, u have a suggestion form+ people write suggestion in it) A link function would be really useful. i.e i hit the go button it brings in memory 1(a scene) which also brings up memory 900 a chase. I don't think the pearl does it. but the ETC expression 3 does! i use the bullfrog. the reason i talk about the pearl is that its 1 of the lowest cost pro desks used in the industry. + it has got a lot a super fancy features. but the ones i suggest, well i dont think they are super fancy. i haven't suggested a graphics tablet, i haven't suggested a function generator which has function specific to the fixture. i do realise the price difference!!
  4. cant remember which way this is but.. when i transfer a memory to a sub. it say "transfer etc...." however if you do it without time/(i think) it doesn't say anything? 2ndly when i change a gobo in my 918's + 518's it seems to jump around the gobo wheel. which looks awful .i.e. if go from gobo1 to gobo2. it will show other gobos b4 it. I had this problem b4, when i used your fixture settings for my 918's on the sirus500. i wrote my own setting + they were fine. is it possible for me to use my old fixture settings (drivers) on the frog? i.e. load them into the fixture editor and then save them for the frog? If i program a chase with ins and transfer to a sub. when i take down the sub, the fixtures contiue to move. any1 else had these problems? thanks
  5. Got to give it to you lot!!! You have got the best manual of any desk i've ever used!!! :lol
  6. us frog user have to bring a manual around with..... a long, long time ago, when zero88, were very good :-S they put a help button on sirus 250/500. the best bit was when you pressed it. it said "sorry help text, not availible" or sumut like that!! always made me laugh
  7. Submaster names in this display would be very nice - thanks + nz going on past experence of zero88 desks. Our sirus 500 lasted 3-4 years....faders all died and the encoder wheels kept on fallin in + buttons all got sticky :-( + when i'v visted other venues with a sirus. it was at the same bad condition....but I mist my sirus500 best thing about our sirus500 it had its own version of F.R.O.G it gave out random dmx levels all the time.... ask your 3000 user base, if they would rather have a pearl or a frog??? (by the way i would rather use a sirus500..then a pearl..coz it looks a mean) is this desk a theatre desk or a live desk????? focus subs y aint you sure? - u had them on the sirus500!!!
  8. dont blag....come to derby uni and study live sound light event technolgy... then you can speak the big words and understand them..
  9. Thanks for looking into the submaster naming, would be very nice+ you can only fit four bits of tape with names of subs on. so it would be a really useful function! You may have sold as many desks as avolites, however avo desk are used in far "funker" gigs!! and i've havn't seen any zero88 desks on wysywig!! However you do give far better customer support One day we may want to sell a desk that is higher spec'd...what happens if it is all already in the Frogs . Sorry I know you just want the best desk possible but we also would like a company that is here to support it. - well the frogs have limited memory. so it couldnt have some fancy visulation gear on it... and by the time you bring out a higher spec desk, most frogs desk will be really ill, so every 1 will have to buy the new high spec desk... focus subs please......
  10. Well to untag the attribute you good scroll down to a -- (ie dmx vaule --, 001, 002)??? benefits to the operation of the desk?? 1. Live playback on pallets much easer 2. Resolves the problem of only having 24/48 pallets 3. As only fewer attributes are being stored, will that save space on the desks storage? 4. Alows the user to be more creative. ie if a fixture has two gobo wheels, the user can easily layer any of the gobo's on top of each other! 5.a lot faster programming.. ie.. have each gobo on a pallet, a prism on a pallet, just a focus I’m sure I can think of some more reasons. you say " I can see why some people want this feature but to date it is not the majority of users of the console. " well that my be because the majority of users have only used one desk with intelligent fixtures control!! I’m more then certain that if you provided this feature, many users would find it a big benefit I really feel that this feature would make the desk “wow†plus you’ll be opening the desk to more higher end users, thus you’ll be getting more cash!!! Fully understand where you’re coming from on the pay for upgrade concept. Some tight people out there!!
  11. i've read most of your arguments on why you don’t feel this feature is necessary! it just seems that lots of users want this feature! You seem to say the user interface would be 2difficult to use 8O . well how about this. when in partial mode... you move a wheel it tags that attribute.... the individual attribute display flashes. to untag the individual attribute. hold the main attribute button + move the wheel!!! does this sound hard!!!???!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! I understand and appreciate that you’re selling the desk at a very reasonable price . well how's about a beta software version. were we would pay an extra £250 for the advanced features. It would be a huge benefit for us users + it would prob benefit you lot 2 as it increase the saleability of the desk! I've used loads of your desks! + i have always felt your desks are very good . I loved the sirus500, it did everything + was extremely powerful! we bought the frog because of your company’s great service to us. U've but lots of time and money into the illusion, however it’s a cheaper desk then the bullfrog? I’m sure u’ve put lots of time into the frog. It just feels week when using it.. its the little things that count like..1shot. don’t get me wrong.. i like the bullfrog, however i want to love it
  12. Would it be possible to have the name of the submaster added to the LCD display... could + a line + scroll down, or remove the contents line + have the name of the sub, with a M (memory) CH (channel date) before it..... i think this would be very useful for when using the desk on the road + u dont wana bring a monitor with you. i'm sure i've mention b4 a request to be able to lock the pallets? any feedback on this. I fully understand that users like using the flash buttons... however avolites "sorry but they are used a lot more then your desks" do alow there pallets to be locked.... also how about focus submasters! like on the sirus500. these could be stored by holding the beamshape??? if you do allow movments fx 2do be stored on pallets. the focus submasters would prove a very poweful tool, both in programming and live use!!! any chance of a auto pallet function!!!! these could be a user thing. i.e on the fixture editor. have a look at the jands event 418 offline editor (www.jands.com) it very simple, but 100% useful!!! + this is just sumut stupid.... i feel that the thumb wheel works the wrong way round... a few visting companys have found this annoying!! sorry for the long list :-s any clues on when the nxt update is :-s
  13. Thanks for the tip! jump works fine!
  14. Would it be pos to create a chase directly into a submaster, with out creating a memory 1st? i.e. could work like this Selected submaster> chase>(set levels) program>next step I use the desk in 2 modes, Theatrical stack + the use the subs for rocknroll it would be nice to keep it separate It would also be nice if when you transferred a memory to a sub, that a dialogue box appears confirming that its has been transferred..
  15. errm why dont you buy a DMX DeBug? one of its functions is as a riggers remote
  16. Currently working as technical manager at the Robert Ludlam Theatre Derby, i've done more shows then i dare to think. Other Desks i'm faimlair with: Frog 2 Frog Range Avolites Pearl 2004 JANDS 418 Tango 48 Q-Commander Most Zero88 Desks Lightfactory I've done a wide range of shows, from RockNRoll to Greek Theatre. I can e-mail images of my work. All my lighting design are drawn up on Wyswig, and if I have time I can render 3D images. lxkev@hotmail.com
  17. Here's a suggest i have to ask for, which would save loads of time in setting up the desk and programming...... An auto palette function! If any of you have used a avolites pearl, you will know what i mean. Sorry Zero88 got talk about the pearl> :? >> basically when you install a fixture it give you a option to load a default palette. its save so much time. I've noticed that you copied their buttons, go on, copy their auto palette please!!! Jands also do a sim kind of thing, and have a off-line editor to create and manage the palette's easly. its also possible to have the pallets split. ie 6 buttons beamshape,next6 colour etc... but thanks for the FROG function.. + the faders on your range of desks are so much nicer to use then the pearls. Any clues on when the nxt update is?
  18. I was about to suggest the same thing, I use wyswig all the time and it would be great to link the phantom frog to it! However kirkup_xp you might want to download the whole hog of line editor, which you can link to wysiwig and use it to alow easy creation for rendering!!! maybe Zero88 could make there own visualisation package :?
  19. Yes, Kirkup_xp i did mean record "shapes". I've been using a sirus 500 for the last four years and avolites desks, so different terminology! yep total agree with ya, would be useful to store frog info on pallets! K-nine said: "A palette is simply a single set of stored colour, beamshape or position values for a number of fixtures"[/color] :? well aint the movement shapes chosen from the position attribute for a ficture; as a value? 8O I'm sure K-nine will state a fantastic explanation why this is currently not possible, but it would be nice for it to come available in the future! + its great 2 Know that the invert pan/tilt of a fixture will be in the next update
  20. "i wish the frog output was as good as the sirus" yes the sirus500 crashed, but for most of the time it was the most user freindly desk interface i've used. I'm sure anyone who used a sirus500/250 would agree!!?!! The layout of the bullfrog is still very much like the sirus500, please make the software look the same!! Bring on the advanced features - most other desk manufactures uses a monitor - dont fall behind the times zero88!!!! Kev
  21. any1 having probs with desk default's? for some reason my mem number1 does not default to what i set i.e. snap
  22. the company i work for has just bought a bull frog to replace our sirus500... Here r a few simple features i think should be added onto this desk!! 1. Instead of having a dmx value for colour and beam shape, could we have a description? like on the sirus.. i've noticed that the fixture's setting have these values inserted in them. please can these values be shown in the lcd dispay or on the vga??? 2. it would be fantastic, if it was possible to record a chase into a palette, so that you could busk easily. i.e. program a pattern 3. to be able to invert the pan/tilt of a fixture
  23. i used to use a sirus500. all i can say is "i wish the frog monitor output was as good", please!!! the sirus had alot of advanced features through the monitor - it was great!! please improve the output!!!!
