  1. can you pm me the desk serial numbers if possible for both the desks. As far as I know the latest version of the os has done nothing to the floppy drive controls. I am still waiting for more information on the reports that we have had to see if I can spot a common thread with them.
  2. What type of fixtures are you using, is it only the colour attribute or is it beam shape as well? For the second part of your question no it is not possible to do this directly as you can only have a single dimmer channel for a fixture. There is something that you could try, it is a little complex to try and explain here and again I would need to have the type of fixture you are using. please contact me for further details. Illusion Reference 4769 - parameters assigned to wrong wheels
  3. please could you pm me with the desk full serial number and the os version that you are running.

I would start by checking the DMX connections are all ok. If not already done make sure the line is terminated correctly. Something that I would also do is set the DMX address on the lights to that of a working unit and see if the problem is present. Not sure about this as I do not have a full info set on the lights but some of them have motor option as part of the set up check that these are the same for all the lights. It may be an actual setting on the lights or and again I am not sure but the fx1 channel may do this.
  5. It is possible to control the fixture from the desk but control would be difficult and require a little thought when operating. Also due to the number of channel it uses you would only be able to control one fixture fully, unless you used the same start address for them all. To do this you would have to operate the desk in wide mode so you would loose the two preset option. The fixture should then be set to start address 13, and the first 7 faders on the B preset would be used to control the functions. You would then need to figure out which fader had which function.
  6. Yes we can obtain these as a spare item. Please pm me for more details.
  7. Please can you give me the desk serial number (by PM please) so I can date the unit. The most obvious cause is going to be a fault with the floppy drive or possibly the connection to the floppy drive, the cable may have worked loose.

first can you give me the desk full serial number (by PM please) so I can date it. Second when you boot the desk do you have any id error message displayed on the monitor i.e. id 3 invalid etc. I can think of anything too obvious but my best guess is to do the dimm module having a fault but not sure why power cycling cures this for the rest of the run. The only other issue may be the internal clocking. Either fault may require the desk to be looked at by one of our service agents.
  9. leaving the unit powered up should not be a problem as I know of a number of units that are on 24/7 365.. Does the level get moved around or unplugged on occasion My best guess is that is it then there may have been a problem if it was done so while the pack was live. You could be looking at a short on the input during connection having damaged one of the internal components or possible stress to the solder joint on the din socket having fractured the track to a Pin.
  10. As mentioned in an earlier post were you using win zip to create the floppy?
  11. I think we have been communicating directly by e-mail as well. Did you manage to obtain a crystal for the unit?
  12. We have a couple of second hand / ex demo cases for the Sirius 500 available if you are interested. Please contact me directly for further information.
  13. First can you give me the desk serial number so I can date the hardware and the firmware installed. Second something that I have had before is that when you go to program mode you must remember that the cue number being displayed, under normal conditions, is the next cue to be outputted when you press GO, not the current cue that is going out. This is indicated by the next LED to the left of the display being lit.
  14. This sounds like a problem with the communication between the main, slave and DMX (if fitted) PCB. As this seems intermittent it would be worth checking the batteries on both the main and slave PCB as if they are starting to fail it would cause the PCB to not start up correctly. There are also a couple of cable connections between the PCB’s that you could check. There are also several components on the PCB’s that can cause this but these are more difficult to track with out the correct equipment.
  15. The keys are all identical for these units. So we don't need a serial number for them. Please PM me for further information.
  16. Black bars on the display indicate that the processor is not running. This could be due to an actually fault main processor or one of the addressing IC having failed. It could also be a seating problem with the IC in the holder. You may also have a fault with the crystal not running. As for the PSU we can still obtain them and we can either put you in contact with your closest dealer or you can contact our sales dept direct.
  17. It's a 32k RAM, it should be labelled on the pcb where it is.
  18. This may not be easy to fix in the time scale you require, as my best guess is the power has caused a surge through the system when it has come back on. The “slave lost” is from experience a fault with the RAM. It can get it self locked out if it has been spiked with a surge. Something that you could try is remove the RAM IC from it’s socket for a few minutes and then replace it. You should then hopefully get the “slave only” which will then allow you to get into the super user to turn it off. If not then this may be due to a damaged IC. The problem is that there are several IC that may be causing this not just the RAM. You could be looking at the main processor, EPROM on any one of the address decoders.
  19. Ok IPL stands for inter processor link an a 24way desk this normally means that there is a DMX card fitted and the main PCB is not talking to the card correctly. There are a couple of causes for this so we need to track which one it is. First if you put the desk into super user and go through the menu structure and find other things. If you then go into this menu you will find an option called test IPL. If you run this you would normally get an IPL running message. With an IPL fault you will get a Fault *.* when the * is a number. If you get a 1.* or 2.* then this normally points to a simple connection fault to the card, either a ribbon cable or possibly the grey loom that connects the main PCB to the dmx card. If you get a 3.* then this is normally a fault with one or more of the components on the DMX or possibly the main PCB this will require it to be looked at by a service agent. The same would be required if you do not have a DMX card fitted.
  20. Dear Sir, The transformers in the Rackmasters are not a standard part, they are made specially for us. We can still get hold of them as spares though, our code is 5520000. Please contact your local distributor or our sales department.
  21. you are not able to record the chase from a submaster back into to a memory. you would end up with the info for the point where you pressed record not all the steps.
  22. yes the sirius 24, 48. XL and XLS all use the same card.
  23. My first guess would be to check the battery. You need 2.2v on the battery to start the desk. what is probably happening is the battery is charging up while the power is on then kick the desk in but needing a reset to do it correctly. it could also be the acai uart ic stopping the crystal from running when it powers up. You could try removing the ACAI and see if this cures the problem acai is labelled as 63b05 and is in the left hand side of the pcb if looked at with the card socket towards you.
  24. They are not a standard PCMCIA card they are actually a MELCARD (Mitsubishi) and are only 60pin. This also only supports a card of a max of 128K anything over that will not be detected as a card at all.
  25. Hi folks, Due to the number of requests we receive for circuit diagrams / service information both for current and discontinued products, I would like to make our position clear on this. It is our general policy to only make circuit diagrams and service information available to our authorised distributors (CLICK HERE to find your nearest). Most if not all of our products are marked "No User Serviceable Parts Inside". It would be irresponsible of us to freely publish information which could be seen to encourage end-users to open up equipment and attempt their own repairs. Similarly, and in particular for dimmers which carry hazardous voltages inside, it is often inappropriate for us to get involved with forum discussions about product repairs, or to offer a specific repair forum. We understand that requests may come from technicians who have the necessary skills, training and experience to carry out repairs competently and safely. However you will understand that it can be difficult if not impossible for us to assess this from postings in an open internet forum. We will consider making exceptions to the general policy in some cases, please contact me by phone or email with any enquiries.
